Since 1997, Swedish software developer Play’n’Go have been creating online slot games that excel in terms of audio, graphics and attention to detail. “Lucky Diamonds” most certainly reflects this commitment to excellence, and in ways that are rare among “classic” 3-reel, single payline games.

The reels of Lucky Diamonds appear on the left side of the display beneath the game logo. A digital “Coins” indicator is located below the first reel and a “Win” counter can be found under reels 2 and 3. On the right side of the display is the Paytable, and the game’s controls run along the bottom of the display within a silver-coloured panel. The game Settings and the Sound on/off switch can be found at the far right side of the panel.

To begin a game of Lucky Diamonds, the player must first decide how much to wager. This is accomplished by clicking on the “Coin Value” indicator below the first reel from €0.25 to €5.00. Then, the number of “Coins” per line must be set from 1 to 3. There is only one payline and it runs horizontally across the centre of the three reels, so the maximum Total Stake possible is €15.

The basic reel symbols used on Lucky Diamonds are typical of classic slots. Catching one Cherry symbol on the centre payline will pay a multiplier of 2X, while two Cherries are worth 5X in any position. Combinations of any three Bar symbols are also worth 5X. When three Cherries or three Single Bars appear on the centre payline, the payout is 10X. Three Double Bars are worth 25X and three Triple Bars win 40X. The biggest payout for the standard symbols is 80X for three Red Sevens.

Lucky Diamonds also features a special wild symbol—the Diamond—that substitutes for any of the above symbols. When a single Diamond is part of a win, it doubles the value of the winning combination. When two Diamonds are part of a win, they quadruple the value of the winning combination. And when three Diamonds line up on the centre payline, they are worth 800X with one or two coins bet, and 800X plus a 100-coin bonus if the maximum three coins are played. That makes the top payout a whopping €12,500 when playing the maximum Stake possible.

As a classic slot, Lucky Diamonds is straightforward, with no bonus features, gamble options, secondary screens or scatter payments. The Paytable shows all of the possible payouts in three columns, one column each for the number of coins bet—1, 2 or 3. Anytime a winning combination appears on the reels, music plays and the corresponding payout level on the Paytable lights up. The amount of the Win is also displayed digitally in the Win counter.

One particularly useful option on Lucky Diamonds is its “Auto Play” function. Clicking on the Auto Play button in the middle of the control panel will reveal a pop-up menu for selecting from 10 to 50 effortless spins. The player also has the option to set automatic stops on 1) any win, 2) if a single win exceeds a certain maximum, 4) if the funds balance increases by a certain amount or 4) if the balance drops below a specified amount. Otherwise, the game will only pause when the player clicks on “Stop.” The number of spins remaining is counted down in the Auto Play counter to the left of the Stop button.
