In Roman mythology, Neptune was the god of the sea. His brothers, Jupiter and Pluto, ruled over the heavens and the underworld, respectively, making Neptune one of the three greatest deities of the universe. He had command over water and marine life, and in art he is often portrayed holding a three-pronged spear called a “trident,” which allows him to channel his powers to create or destroy.

In the 3-reel slot game “Neptune’s Kingdom” developed by software maker Playtech, the ancient god rules over a host of creatures and artifacts capable of bestowing great wealth upon players. The wave master can be seen at the upper left of the screen, his red eyes glowing as he watches over the reels that spin below. An occasional sailing ship passes behind him, and waves can be heard crashing to the shore each time the reels are set in motion.

A graphic Paytable appears at the top center and right of the Neptune’s Kingdom screen. The player’s controls can be found at the bottom beneath the three reels. Unlike most slot games online, Neptune’s Kingdom offers just five ways to win—three horizontal paylines and two diagonal—much like the types of classic slots that were common in the mid-20th century.

The player may select a credit denomination ranging from €0.01 to €5.00. The value can be adjusted by using the +/- toggles at the bottom left corner of the screen. Clicking on the “Bet One” button below the first and second reels enables selection of 1 to 5 paylines for a maximum wager of €25. Clicking on “Bet Max” will activate all five paylines, but will not change the denomination of the line wagers.

The total Bet appears next to the reels on the left. All paylines that have been selected are shown as thin white bars running across the actual reels. To start the game, click on “Spin” beneath the second reel. Winnings are shown in the “Win” section immediately to the right of the reels, and the player’s current balance can be seen in the screen’s lower left-hand corner.

Winning combinations are shown on a fixed display above the reels. On any active payline, prizes of 20X, 25X, 30X, 40X or 50X are paid as line multipliers for three matching Orange Fish, Lobsters, Blue Fish, Tridents or Mermaid symbols, respectively. The Treasure Chest affords the highest payouts. Catching three Treasure Chest symbols in a row is worth 100X, 110X, 120X, 130X or 150X on the paylines numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, respectively.

Audio and graphic effects on Neptune’s Kingdom are slight. Apart from the waves, air bubbles can be heard breaking to the surface each time a reel comes to a stop and harp music sounds whenever winning combinations appear on the paylines. There are no bonus games, wild symbols, scatters or free spin features in this game. There is, however, an Autoplay option.

To activate Autoplay, the player must use the pull-down menu located under the “Tools” menu at the very top of the screen. Then, using the +/- toggles next to the spins indicator that appears in the lower right corner of the screen will set the number of auto spins. Otherwise, the number of spins can be typed directly into the counter—up to 9,999 spins maximum.

Other Autoplay options can be accessed by clicking the expanded menu arrows on the left side of the Autoplay display. For example, it is possible to set “stop loss” and “overall win” limits. There are also +/- toggles for adjusting the length of the delay between spins, too.
