Fans of classic slots have something to celebrate in Playtech’s “Party Line” slots game. It features a purely retro format—three reels, one payline—without sacrificing the opportunity to have old school fun and score some big wins.

The motif for this cheerful game is all about entertainment. There are balloons, streamers, confetti and party hats aplenty in the background as the reels spin. The only bells and whistles to be found on Party Line are the ones players hear when there’s cash payout delivered. There are no bonus games, no scatters, no wilds and no free spins, but each time a winning combination aligns, watch for the yellow balloon to take flight and a female voice to call out “It’s Party Time!”

Available coin denominations start at €0.01 per line and run up to €5.00. The value can be adjusted using the +/- toggles next to the bet indicator at the lower left of the screen. It’s possible to wager up to three credits on the single payline. The amount can be adjusted by using the “Bet One” button on the control panel below the reels. Clicking on “Bet Max” will cause a maximum wager of 3 credits on the payline, but it does not change the denomination of each credit. The total wager limit is €15 per spin.

The Party Line symbols are all about cavorting. There are basic symbols for Drinks—Yellow, Blue and Red. Catching three of them at random on the payline will pay 5 times the wager up to a maximum of 15 credits. If the bars all match up, they pay 20X, 40X or 60X, respectively.

Higher paying symbols are the Boom Box, Keyboard, Saxophone and Party Hat. Aligning three of the same symbol on the payline awards 100X, 250X, 500X or 1200X, respectively. On each reel, these symbols are separated by blanks, making winning combinations of three symbols on the single payline infrequent, just like in “the good old days.”

At the top right side of the display window is the game’s Paytable. Payouts are displayed in a grid of three columns for the bet amounts and eight rows for the winning combinations that may appear on the reels. Betting two credits on the payline will double the amounts paid out, and wagering three credits will triple them.

There is one exception, however. At maximum bet, a winning combination of three Party Hats on the payline is worth 4,000 credits, not the expected 3,600. This makes the odds of winning slightly better at the “Bet Max” limit, no matter what denomination is selected for the bets, and the highest prize is €20,000 when wagering a €5 credit at Bet Max.

For those who prefer using Autoplay to allow the game to run by itself, Party Line has several special features. For one, the toggle to access Autoplay is hidden in the pull-down “Tools” menu at the very top right corner of the screen. Clicking on it brings up the Autoplay control panel in the lower right corner. One can use the +/- toggles flanking the spins indicator to set the number of auto spins desired, or else it is possible to type the number directly into the counter for up to 9,999 spins maximum.

Additional Autoplay options can be accessed by clicking the expanded menu arrows on the left edge of the Autoplay control panel. It’s possible to set “stop loss” and “overall win” limits, and there are +/- toggles for adjusting the length of the delay between spins, too.

Also available on the “Tools” pull-down menu are various “Options” such as “Game Settings,” “Audio Settings” and “General Settings.” This is where the player can disable the game sounds, background sounds or dealer voices. It is also possible to adjust the game speed for normal play or fast play.
