Premier League

Arsenal can go level on points with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon in what could be a vital game in the race for the Premier League title.

Gunners frustrated again

Arsene Wenger has once again been forced to go on the defensive this week as his team failed to deliver in Tuesday´s Champions League Group F game at home to Olympiakos. After two games, the Gunners have failed to score a single point in their European campaign and now face an uphill task if they are to qualify for the knockout stages.

Despite the North Londoners inability to mount a challenge in Europe, they are still in contention with the leaders on the domestic front. With no team seemingly able to take the initiative, this season’s Premier League title race looks to be wide open. Sunday´s game will give Wenger an opportunity to silence his critics and show that his side are genuine title contenders.

Back on their perch?

Seeing Manchester United perched on top of the Premier League may be a familiar site for football fans around the world, but after a brief period in the wilderness, is it really business as usual for the Old Trafford side?

The fact that the Red Devils are winning games without being entirely convincing, may also sound like a familiar tale. But while the teams around them continue to flounder, United keep going about their business in a clinical fashion - an art that was perfected so well by former boss Alex Ferguson.

With just seven games gone, even the most optimistic United fans are still remaining cautious about their prospects however, a win away to Arsenal on Sunday would certainly get many believing that a title challenge is a realistic target this term.

Unlike their opponents, Louis van Gaal´s men bagged their first win of their European campaign on Wednesday when they made heavy work of beating German side Wolfsburg on home turf. It was the fourth straight win in all competitions for the 20-time Premier League champions.

Team news

Arsene Wenger will have to do without Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck, who are all in the treatment room.

For the Manchester side, Luke Shaw and Michael Carrick are both out with long-term injuries while Marcos Rojo is also expected to miss the next two games. Meanwhile, Ander Herrera should recover from a recent knock.

Betting odds and tips

This game is a very tough one to call. If anything, Man United are in slightly better form but the Gunners have the home advantage. When Arsenal get their game going they can be a joy to watch but those moments have been few and far between this season. However, United did look a little jaded in midweek and the busy schedule seems to be catching up with Louis van Gaal’s team. Arsenal should just have enough to edge this one.

The home side can be backed to win at 11/10 with Betfred and you can Back Both Teams to Score at 4/6 with Bet365.
