Premier League

Sixth-ranked Manchester United will be confident of grabbing all three points at Old Trafford on Sunday lunchtime when they host a Stoke City side still looking for their first win of the season

Manchester United keen to avoid any more slip ups

The 20-time former league champions are already six points behind their rivals from across the city with just six games played. As a result, they will now be looking to go on a winning run while hoping that the pace-setters drop points.

Jose Mourinho`s men got back to winning ways last weekend, beating reigning champions Leicester City 4-1 on home soil. They followed that up with a narrow Europa League victory (1-0) in midweek against Ukrainian side FC Zorya Luhansk. On Sunday, they will play at home for the third time in a week when they welcome one of the Premier Leagues worst-form teams to Manchester.

Stoke City ended a four-game losing streak last weekend by drawing 1-1 at home to West Bromwich Albion. That result doubled their season`s tally to two points and lifted them above Sunderland and off the foot of the table.

With boss Mark Hughes already under pressure, he will be looking for a big performance from his team when they take on his former club this weekend.

Team news

Manchester United`s injury problems have subsided somewhat with Luke Shaw, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Phil Jones the only doubts.

Meanwhile, Stoke have bigger worries with Joe Allen, Jakob Haugaard, John Walters, Jack Butland, Stephen Ireland and Ibrahim Affellay all undergoing treatment.

Betting odds and tips

Manchester United may not be the force they once were but they will still be top four contenders this season. Their only home Premier League defeat in the last 11 fixtures came at the hands of Pep Guardiola`s Manchester City side.

Meanwhile, Stoke have not won any of their last six away games in the league, having lost five and drawn one.

The home side should win this one by a comfortable margin.
