Manchester United will be hoping to keep pace with the Premier League`s top three as they host West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford in this evening`s late kick-off. United are just two points behind both second placed Manchester City and third placed Arsenal. With these two sides not taking to the field until Sunday and Monday respectively, the Red Devils will move into second with a victory tonight. Recording a surprise loss against Albion could see the gap between themselves and fifth placed Liverpool close to just four points.

This evening`s visitors will be aiming to hit the 40 points total that would all but guarantee them Premier League football for another season. The Baggies sit in 13th position and would move onto exactly 40 points with a victory. As Crystal Palace are five points clear of the side in 12th, Tony Pulis` men would not climb the table even with an unlikely win. Losing against United could see the West Midlands club fall below Newcastle with Hull able to capitalise on this dropping of points on Monday.

West Brom hosted United back in October, then under the premiership of former boss Alan Irvine. Albion twice took the lead though the game would end as a 2-2 draw.

Stephane Sessegnon`s strike broke the deadlock with the game just eight minutes young. The match would remain at 1-0 well up until after half time when Marouane Fellaini restored parity just three minutes after the restart. Saido Berahino put the Black Country club back in front on 66 minutes only for Daley Blind to see the spoils shared well into the dying minutes.

Both Betvictor and ladbrokes have 25/1 on this evening`s game ending 2-2 whilst 19/4 (Bwin) says that exactly four goals will be scored. Sessegnon is available at 20/1 (ladbrokes, Stan James) to be the provider of the first goal of the encounter with 15/2 (Stan James) the price on Fellaini closing the scoring. A number of bookmakers have 17/10 on both teams hitting the back of net at some point during the 90 minutes.

Despite being unable to get the better of the Baggies in their October encounter, it is United who are the favourites to take all three points from tonight`s clash thanks to their home advantage and superior league position. Both Stan James and william hill have 2/5 on Louis van Gaal`s men ensuring victory. The trio of Betbright, Betvictor and boylesports have the best price of 19/2 on a West Brom win by any means whilst a draw can be backed at 17/4 at both bet365 and Bwin.

The Manchester club have failed to take even a point from their last two games, their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Everton following their 1-0 loss against Chelsea. Indeed these results have meant that the side has failed to score in their last 180 minutes of football. Could there be value in the 18/1 that says that West Brom can win by any number of goals to nil this evening? United have scored in all of their last six home games and have not dropped a point in any of these encounters.

West Brom have kept consecutive clean sheets under Tony Pulis, their goalless draw at home to Liverpool following on from their 2-0 win away at Crystal Palace, this win ending a run of five away games without a victory.

Prior to this clean sheet, the Baggies had conceded at least two goals in all of their last three matches on the road. Consequentially, United are up for grabs at the best price of 13/8 (bet365) to hit over 2.5 goals against West Brom.
