Fiorentina vs. Atalanta - Betting preview and odds

October 4, 2015 19:45pm - Stadio Artemio Franchi

Serie A

Top of the table Fiorentina will be looking to maintain their advantage in Serie A when they welcome in-form Atalanta to Florence on Sunday night.

A winning streak for La Viola

It has been a good week for Paolo Sousa“s side: first they went top of the league by winning by four goals to one away at league rivals Inter - then they bagged another four goals on the road in the Champions League tie against Belenenses, including a first in 18 months for striker Giuseppe Rossi.

They now have the chance to build on their positive momentum with a home game against another of the league`s in-form teams.

La Dea unbeaten in five

Since losing away to Inter on the opening day of the season, Bergamo-based Atalanta have won three and drawn two matches and now sit in a respectable eighth place in the table. They now travel to Florence for what could be their toughest test of the season so far.

Edy Reja“s team spent most of last season flirting with the relegation places but eventually avoided the drop by three points. Since his appointment in March, the veteran coach has vastly improved results with the team losing just one of their last fifteen games in all competitions including friendly games.

Team news

Giuseppe Rossi may start once again for La Viola after getting on the score sheet for the first time in 18 months in the Europa league on Thursday night.

For Atalanta, midfielders Marcelo Esigarribia and Carlos Carmano are out injured along with defender Davide Brivio while Andrea Masiello could return to the starting line up.

Betting odds and tips

This game promises to be a closely-fought battle between two teams who have hit the ground running this season. However, Fiorentina are playing like genuine title contenders and should have enough to see off the team from Lombardy on their own turf. The 7/10 on offer from Betfred for a home win looks like a decent bet.

The home side have only conceded one goal in their last four outings and can be backed to Win to Nil at 17/10 with Betvictor.
