Swansea vs. Tottenham - Betting preview and odds

October 4, 2015 16:00pm - Liberty Stadium

Premier League

Two of the Premier Leagues brightest young managers will square up Sunday Afternoon as Garry Monk“s Swansea welcomes Mauricio Pochettini“s Tottenham to the Liberty stadium.

Average start for the Swans

Garry Monk“s side have won just one of their five Premier League games and have slipped down to 11th place in the table however, they have yet to lose a game on home soil. This Sunday they face a team that they have failed to beat in the Premier League era. In fact, they have lost seven out of their last eight games against the North London club.

If they are to break that trend, they will need their goal scorers to rediscover their early season form. Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew have seven league goals between them but neither player has found the net since August.

Spurs starting to impress

Spurs failed to win any of their first four Premier League matches but their form has improved significantly since then. They have won their last three in a row and are now unbeaten in six. The opening day loss to Manchester United remains their only defeat this term.

Their last game was also their most impressive as they ran out 4-1 winners over title favourites Manchester City. The performance in that game suggested that things might finally be falling into place for the Argentine coach.

Team news

The home side have no new injuries concerns leaving the manager with a full squad to choose from. Midfielder Jefferson Montero is in line for a return to the starting XI.

The visitors are not quite so fortunate and will have to make do without Heung-Min Son, Nabil Bentaleb, Alex Pritchard, Moussa Dembele and Ryan Mason who are all injured.

Betting odds and tips

History is not on Swansea“s side in this fixture and they are facing a Spurs team that seems to be finding some consistency. However, the Welsh side have to be beaten at home and the Londoners only away win came at bottom of the table Sunderland.

With this game so evenly poised it would be worth looking at the 29/12 available for the draw with Marathon bet. The same bookmaker is also offering 11/12 for Under 2.5 goals. Games involving Swansea have averaged 2.29 goals this season while matches involving the away side have averaged 2.00 goals (only Watford have averaged less).
