Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Neither the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship nor the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open can hope to match the Ryder Cup for drama but a winner is a winner when it comes to the battle between punters and bookmakers.

Ryder Cup hero Martin Kaymer and two members of previously successful Europe team, Padraig Harrington and Paul Casey, are the three best Alfred Dunhill Links Championship bets.

Twenty-one years ago after Germany`s Bernhard Langer missed a five-foot putt on the 18th green to lose a Ryder Cup, his countryman Kaymer holed one of similar length to retain the trophy. It will have done wonders for his confidence.

Kaymer has had a disappointing year for a major champion and former world number one but he went into the Ryder Cup off two decent performances - a tie for fifth in the Italian Open and joint 21st in the KLM Open - and he came through when it mattered on the final day of the Ryder Cup, beating Steve Stricker of the United States of America by one hole.

Links golf suits Kaymer really well - he may have taken out the 2010 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits but, overall, the Open Championship is the major tournament in which he has fared best - and he boasts an excellent record in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship having won it in 2010 and placing inside the top 30 on each of his four appearances.

Bookmakers have chalked up odds of around 22-1 about Kaymer kicking on from his momentous Ryder Cup moment and winning his first title since November 2011. He is worth backing.

Harrington`s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship record is even better than that of Kaymer. Over the past 10 years, he has won the event twice, finished inside the top 10 on five occasions and only placed outside the top 20 three times.

Absent from Europe`s Ryder Cup team for the first time since 1997, Harrington has been a model of consistency in recent months, posting nine top-20 finishes in his last 11 events on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Bookmakers have him at around 20-1 to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and that seems more than fair based on his superb statistics.

At around 100-1, Casey is the most interesting of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship outsiders. Three times in five appearances he has finished in the event`s top 10 and links golf is his forte if one looks at his career numbers.

Robert Garrigus. Ryan Moore and George McNeill are the three best Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open bets as the PGA Tour enters its four tournament Fall Series.

Garrigus, who is trading at around 20-1, has not missed the cut in six Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open starts and last year only one competitor scored more birdies than him. He closed out the FedExCup Playoffs with back-to-back top 10s and he is one of the PGA Tour`s most prolific par breakers, which is a key statistic for any event that takes place on the TPC Summerlin course.

Moore wrapped up the FedExCup Playoffs with three top 10s in a row and he is comfortable in Sin City having carved out his outstanding amateur career while at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is a fair Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open favourite at around 14-1.

McNeill is the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open roughie to back at around 80-1. He won the event in 2007 and lost a three-way playoff in 2009.
