Sunday sees the carnival of the Formula One circuit pitch up at Silverstone for what promises to be another thriller in this rollercoaster of a season.

Bookmakers make Sebastian Vettel the 11/4 (general) favourite to land the British Grand Prix. The German has been in Pole position in the last two races, suggesting that the Red Bulls have got qualifying sorted. The downside for Vettel backers though is that from his two Pole positions he has secured just 12 points. Vettel was forced to retire from the European Grand Prix in Valencia with an electrical problem. If the car is in shape though, this 11/4 looks a great price as it does not seem the speed that is the problem with the Red Bulls. Even Stefano Domenicali, Ferrari team principle, has admitted that the Ferrari can not compete in terms of pure speed work with the Red Bull.

Second in the market is Lewis Hamilton at 4/1 (general) who the Canadian Grand Prix, Hamilton though struggled for speed at the European Grand Prix and looked reliant on the mistakes of others. In addition after his win here in 2008 he has finished no higher than fourth. Third favourite Fernando Alonso is 6/1 (Totesport/betfred) to claim glory at Silverstone like he did in 2011. The Spaniard heads the title standings by 20 points after eight races and although his car might not perhaps be as fast as the Red Bull, his driving talent means he is always competitive in race situations. If the weather come Sunday is playing havoc (a not usual occurance in Britain in July) then Alonso could work his magic.

Mark Webber, in the other Red Bull, is 12/1 (general) and this could be value. Webber in the Red Bull is in the faster car and has a decent record in the British Grand Prix. The Australian has three top three finishes here (including a victory here in 2010) in the last three years. Webber is currently second place in the Championship and has five top four finishes from eight races this season (including victory at Monaco). Lotus duo Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean are 12/1 (general) and the Lotus car has been on the podium in four of the last five races. Grosjean seems to be able to get the fastest speeds out of the car, but Raikkonen is the more reliable driver in getting his car around the track.

Englishman Jenson Button is a 16/1 (general) shot for the race. Button has had a disappointing season after such a great start when he won the season opener in Australia. Button has not finished higher than 8th in his last five races and has never appeared on the podium in any of the previous British Grand Prixs. If not Hamilton or Button then British fans will hope from a shock performance from Paul Di Resta. The Scot has had a solid if unspectacular season in the Force India car and is 100/1 (general) the shock victory, 25/1 (general) a podium finish and evens (general) for a points finish.

Those looking for an outside bet might want to consider the each-way potential of Sergio Perez at 66/1 (bet365/boylesports/ladbrokes) the Mexican is capable of some remarkable turns of speed and despite some poor qualifying performances has got the Sauber onto the podium twice this season.

Bookmakers are priced on a number of markets such as qualifying, fastest lap, points finish, podium finish, driver race bets. Be sure to check out all the markets on offer and you may be able to drive off with some value.
