Manchester City will travel to Crystal Palace`s Selhurst Park this evening looking to recapture the second position stolen away from them following the weekend`s fixtures. Arsenal`s comprehensive 4-1 win over Liverpool saw them rise to second spot with the Sky Blues` arch-rivals Manchester United taking third after their victory over Aston Villa.

Manuel Pellegrini`s fourth placed club will spring right back up to second spot with a win away at Palace though a draw only takes them up one place. Recording an unlikely defeat in London would see them remain in the final Champions League position, two points off the Gunners and all but ending their already slim title hopes with Chelsea nine points to the good with a game in hand.

There is less to play for for Crystal Palace with relegation looking unlikely and a top 10 finish slowly slipping through their fingers. A home win for the 12th placed club would see them usurp 11th placed Everton whilst a defeat would see them liable to be superseded by both Newcastle and West Bromwich Albion, should they fail to grab a result away at Sunderland next weekend.

The two clubs have met once already this season, this being at City`s Emirates Stadium in the reverse Premier League fixture. On this occasion, with the Eagles being under the stewardship of former manager Neil Warnock, the home side took home all three points with an easy 3-0 victory.

All three City goals came in the second half in this encounter with David Silva breaking the deadlock just five minutes after the restart. The Spaniard would complete his brace just over 10 minutes later before Yaya Toure would put the game out of the London side`s reach with 10 minutes remaining.

Both betfred and william hill have the best price of 14/1 on another 3-0 win to the Citizens. On the game being tied at half time but City winning at full time, punters can get the best price of 19/5 at both betfred and Betvictor. unibet have 25/1 on Silva hitting the back of the net twice or more this time around against Alan Pardew`s men.

Indeed it is the top four hopefuls who are the favourites for the match, they hoping to do the double over the Eagles this evening. Seven-to-ten (betfred, Totesport) is the best price on a visitors win by any means. Otherwise, a home win can be backed at 5/1 at a trio of bookmakers (betfair, Betvictor, boylesports) with 16/5 (Betbright, Betvictor, boylesports, Skybet) saying that the spoils will be shared at the end of the 90 minutes.

Pardew`s hosts will be going into tonight`s game on the back of consecutive victories following wins over Queens Park Rangers (3-1) and Stoke City (2-1). Betvictor`s 5/6 is the best price on both teams scoring in the third straight Palace match.

At home, the Eagles` record is less impressive with the side picking up just seven points from a maximum of 15. Palace have, however, scored seven goals in these last five home games and can be picked up at 3/1 with Coral to hit over 1.5 goals past City tonight.

City earned themselves all three points at home to West Brom last time out but are coming into this game off the back of back-to-back away defeats. Manchester City found themselves a goal worse off against both Liverpool (2-1) and Burnley (1-0) and betway`s 6/4 says that these two teams will be separated by one goal once again.

Prior to their 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor, City had hit the back of the net nine times in their previous five matches on the road. Both Silva and Sergio Aguero scored twice in this context and are on offer at 31/10 (888sport, unibet) and 21/20 (Numerous) respectively to score at any time.
