The PDC Darts Championship continues Tuesday night and the opening match of the night features Steve Beaton up against Kyle Anderson. Like Samson before him I feel that the best days of Steve Beaton have gone with the loss of those wonderous locks he used to posesss. That being said Beaton should have too much for Anderson who has only played two tournaments outside of Australia previously. Beaton is as short as 1/6 (general) to win this one while Anderson is 9/2 (boylesports). Though he has not progressed to the latter stages of too many tournaments Beaton has been unlucky to bump into a number of players in good form. He has put in some good performances in losing efforts and not always got his rewards. He should have too much for Anderson and the best way to play this is in the correct score market. Take the 3-0 Beaton victory and then cover yourself with the 3-1. If either comes off you will return a profit. 3-1 Beaton is available at 13/5 (paddy Power) while 3-0 Beaton is 47/20 (You Win).

The second match of the evening is between Lourence Ilagan from the Philipines and Jamie Lewis from Wales. Lewis is the 8/13 (Coral) favourite while Ilagan is 13/8 (Skybet). The Welshman should come through this encounter though I would not advise a bet.

The third match of the evening sees Wes Newton take on Johnny Haines. Newton is the 2/13 (Bwin) favourite while Haines is a best priced 6/1 (bet365/BetVictor). The number six seed Newton is having a good year on the tour reaching the final of the European Championships while making the last four of the World Grand Prix. Newton is known as the Warrior and you would expect the Warrior to have too much for his opponent who as known as the Punk. Much like in the Beaton game a bet on the 3-0 and 3-1 victories to Newton will return profits if either comes off. It is 9/4 a 3-0 Newton victory with paddy Power while a Newton 3-1 victory is 9/4 (general). Though the 3-0 is most likely it would be a shame to get greedy and not offer a small cover of the 3-1 scoreline.

The game of the night and quiet possibly the game of the first round pitches Mervyn King against Dean Winstanley. King is the 5/6 (ladbrokes) favourite for the match while Winstanley is a 6/5 (BWin) chance. Winstanley is a former BDO runner-up and this year had a great time in the Grand Slam of Darts where he reached the semi-finals. Among his victims were Simon Whitlock, Arron Monk and Kevin Painter. In the semi-final he came unstuck against the rampant Michael Van Gerwen however the result was enough to make people take note that Winstanley is a player who has arrived. King though is no mug and his form is good as this October he reached his first major final in two years where he (also) lost to Michael Van Gerwen. This game looks like it could be a cracker and it looks worth a little bet that the game will go the distance. Skybet are going 7/4 that this match goes over 4.5 sets (the distance) and this looks worth a little interest.

The final game of the evening is the one that pitches the winner of the qualifying match between Lewis or Ilgan against Colin Osborne. Only sportingbet have this priced up at the moment with Osborne 4/9 and either opponent 13/8. Osborne is a solid player who should have too much though 4/9 does not look an inviting price.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Newton in correct score, 3-0 (9/4-paddy Power) and 3-1 (9/4-general)
SILVER: Beaton in correct score, 3-0 (47/20-You Win) and 3-1 (13/5-paddy Power)
BRONZE: King v Winstanley to go over 4.5 sets, 7/4 (Skybet)
