RELEGATION

Just 12 points seperated Oxford in eighth and Bristol Rovers in 23rd last season which made for an open relegation battle that saw Wycombe survive on goal difference. The Chairboys though are 11/2 for the drop which is a big price considering I would have had them as favourites. Wycombe gained just two wins in their last 12 and just six home wins all season

And the limited movements in the transfer window suggest a season of struggle ahead again. Cheltenham at even bigger odds of 8/1 have to offer some value. A run of just five wins from their last 23 games saw them slip to 17th place and were just five points above safety. Jamie Cureton was the highest scorer last season and has moved and they may struggle more than bookmakers are expecting them to do so.

TOPSCORER

BET365 have three players at the head of the market to be top League Two scorer this season, two of whom play for Bury. Ryan Lowe and Daniel Nardiello are both 12/1 and although both talented players I would worry that there would not be enough goals to go around for the duo.

Craig Westcarr grabbed 17 last season for Walsall in League One last season and as the main man for a Portsmouth side gunning for the top looks excellent value. Pompey have a number of talented options in midfield and they should great a number of chances for Westcarr. Another who I like in the topscorer market is Barry Corr (no relation to the music group) who is a 20/1 shot. The Southend man ended the season in great form with five from his last six regular season games and he should build on the 13 goals he grabbed last season

Chris Zebroski got 12 in 32 games last season and looks excellent each-way value at 40/1 for a Newport side I think will go well this year.

GROUP AND MATCH BETTING

The pick of these markets is York at 5/4 to finish as top Northern club. To do this they must see off Hartlepool side they finished 18 points ahead of last season and a Carlisle side who have dropped down from League One. The Cumbrians look to be the closest challenge though if you consider the way the two teams ended the season (York went 17 league games unbeaten while Carlisle won just one of their last 15).

I talked in the outright piece about how keen I was on Southend this season and odds of 7/1 on them to finish as the top Southern club have to be taken. The Shrimpers should be too good for AFC Wimbledon, Dagenham and Redbridge and Wycombe who they finished above last season. This leaves newly promoted Luton and Cambridge and newly relegated Stevenage none of whom I think will be in the mix for promotion. Portsmouth then are the obvious danger in this market but at 7/1 it has to be worth taking a Southend side that finished 13 ahead of the South Coast team last season to come out ahead of them once more.
