Premier League preview and odds: Burnley vs Hull City

September 10 , 2016 15:00pm - Turf Moor

Premier League

Two of the Premier League newly-promoted clubs will battle it out for supremacy on Saturday afternoon when Liverpool-slayers Burnley FC welcome bright starters Hull City to Turf Moor.

Premier League new boys go head-to-head in game week four

The first and fourth-placed teams from last year’s Championship will meet in the top flight this weekend as tier-two champs Burnley look to close the gap on play-off winners Hull City. The home side are playing their third home game of the season after opening with a defeat to Swansea followed by a shock win over Liverpool before falling away to Chelsea in the last game week.

Sean Dyche`s men have had an unbalanced start to the season with a win over Jurgen Klopp`s Liverpool perhaps adding some gloss to their unconvincing displays. Even during that game, they were thoroughly outplayed and scored from their only two chances while the Reds wasted theirs. The Clarets` boss will be aware that they will not be able to rely on that kind of scenario week in week out and will have to up their game.

Meanwhile, Hull City have impressed in all three of the games that they have played since returning to the top flight at the first attempt. Having kicked off their season with a 2-1 win over the reigning Premier League champions, the Tigers followed it up with 2-0 victory on the road at Swansea.

In the last game before the international break, they were denied a point against Manchester United thanks to a late strike from Marcus Rashford. Former Red Devils assistant Mike Phelan has certainly impressed since taking over as head coach from Steve Bruce back in the summer.

Burnley possible XI: Heaton Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward Boyd, Marney, Defour, Arfield Gray, Vokes

Hull City possible XI: Jakupovic Elmohamady, Livermore, Davies, Robertson Huddlestone, Clucas, Meyler Snodgrass, Hernandez, Diomande

Team news

The home side are still without long-term absentee Dean Marney.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have to cope without Greg Luer, Michael Dawson, Moses Odubajo, Alex Bruce and Allan Mcgregor.

Betting odds and tips

Of the two new arrivals, it has been Hull City who have looked more like a Premier League team and they look well-priced to snatch another win this weekend.
