Football League 6th October

Just one live game takes place in the Championship this week and it is between Ipswich and Cardiff. The Tractor Boys are unbeaten in their last seven against Cardiff though their recent form is poor and they are the 21/10 (general) outsiders. The Bluebirds are in great form at the moment winning five of their last six and they look worth siding with here at 7/5 (william hill).

Elsewhere in the Championship I like the look of Crystal Palace to beat Burnley at 13/10 (william hill). Palace are on a great run of form going unbeaten in their last six games, winning five of these. Added to this Burnley have won none of their last eight away to Palace and you have the makings of a good bet. One last thing that makes this standout is that manager Eddie Howe is heavily linked with leaving Burnley and going back to former club Bournemouth. This could be a big distraction to the Clarets and I expect Dougie Freedman and his side to gain all three points.

The game of the day in League One sees Notts County take on leaders Tranmere. It is 5/4 (Coral) a County home victory while the draw is a best priced 28/11 (pinnacle) and the away win is 5/2 (general). I think goals could be the way to play this way and would recommend over 2.5 goals which would have paid in four of the last six County games and four of the last five Tranmere games. Over 2.5 goals is currently priced at 11/12 (pinnacle) while both teams to score is available at 8/11 (general). Those looking for a value bet in this league could do worse than take Portsmouth defender Gabor Gyepes to take score against the MK Dons. The Pompey player has grabbed two in his last two games but this seems to have slipped under the radar of some bookmakers as he is still available at 40/1 (bet365/paddy Power). These two firms are also offering 14/1 in the anytime goalscorer market and this looks worth chancing.

The game of the day in League Two pits Exeter up against Port Vale. Exeter are the 6/4 (general) favourites while the draw is 38/15 (Pinnacle) and the Port Vale victory 2/1 (BetVictor). The last six Exeter games have seen both teams score and with talented forwards like Jamie Cureton and Tom Pope on show it looks worth taking over the 2.5 goals which is a best priced 11/12 (Pinnacle). One game that might not see many goals is the one that sees Cheltenham entertain Fleetwood. Fleetwood (6) and Cheltenham (5) have kept the most clean sheets in League Two this season and it might be worth taking the 11/10 (general) on the No in the both teams to score market.

One final bet recommendation is in the Conference Premier where Kidderminster are 5/4 (general) to win at Ebbsfleet. Although just two points seperates these teams in the league they are in very different form. Kidderminster have picked up eight points from their last four games while Ebbsfleet have picked up just the one. Ryan Rowe has grabbed four goals in his last two games and you can get a Rowe to score and Kidderminster to win double which is available at 12/5 (BetVictor).

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Crystal Palace to beat Burnley (13/10 william hill)
SILVER: Ryan Rowe to score/Kidderminster win double, 12/5 (BetVictor)
BRONZE: Gabor Gyepes to score first/anytime for Pompey v MK Dons. 40/1 First-bet365/paddy Power, 14/1 anytime (bet365/paddy power)
