Having defeated Scotland at home in their first competitive game since their world cup winning triumph in Brazil, Germany face possibly their toughest task of their bid to qualify for Euro 2016, a trip to rivals Poland.

The German`s did not look at their best in Dortmund against Scotland last month and will not be able to get away with a similar performance in Poland if they want to cement their place at the top of the group. Meanwhile, the Poles could not have asked for an easier start to their qualifying campaign with a trip to Portugal to face newcomers Gibraltar. Needless to say, Poland swept aside the debutants with ease, recording a 7-0 victory and will use this win as a confidence builder ahead of the game in Warsaw.

Group D could be one of the toughest to call, with Germany, Poland, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland all hoping to take advantage of the extra qualifying spot and make it through to the finals in France.

In six competitive meetings between Poland and Germany, the Germans have won four and there have been two draws. In addition to this, Poland only managed to score one goal in those six matches and in total, have never beaten Germany in 18 attempts. This is a record the Poles will want to end on Saturday and they are 11/2 with paddypower to notch up their first ever win against their next door neighbours. With a partisan crowd backing them in Warsaw, a result is certainly not beyond Poland and they have the fire power to cause Germany problems, especially with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski in their ranks. Lewandowski has already scored 4 goals this season for his club team and has 4 to his name for Poland in this qualifying campaign, all of which came against Gibraltar. He is 8/1 with paddypower to score the first goal of game and 5/2 to net at any time during the match.

However, the task Poland face really comes in to perspective with the fact that Germany have not lost an away qualifying match for 14 years and are 11/20 with BetVictor to come away with a win in this one. Interestingly, Germany coach Joachim Low has only named one out and out striker, Max Kruse of Borussia Moenchengladbach and he is 5/1 with SkyBet to open the scoring. Having said that, Low is not adverse to playing matches without a main striker in his team and this leaves Thomas Mueller 4/1 and Mario Gotze 5/1 as being the leading contenders to score the first goal.

Poland will take encouragement from the fact that Germany still have a number of players out injured, including Benedikt Howedes, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira, all of which play key roles defensively in the team. Coupled with the retirement of Philip Lahm and Per Mertesacker, the German team does not look as solid as it did 5 months ago. With this in mind, Poland`s best player being a striker and the German`s own world class attackers, expect for there to be goals. bet365 offer odds of 7/10 for there to be over 2.5 goals.

With the backing of their passionate fans, expect Poland to make a strong start to the game but Germany should have enough to see them over the line come the final whistle. Odds of 7/2 for the match to be drawn at half-time and Germany to win at full-time are available with BetVictor.
