The first of the double-header on Monday night Football pitches Philadelphia at Washington which gets underway 1:00am Tuesday and is broadcast live on British Eurosport.

The Redskins are 10/17 (william hill) for victory as they look to continue their end to last season that saw them win their last seven regular season games. Offensive Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III has shaken off an injury which is great news for Washington fans and bad news for Eagles fans as he completed 30 of 39 passes for 398 yards and six touchdowns as the Redskins won both meetings between these sides last season. For the Eagles it will be the first game under new coach Chip Kelly who will look to arrest a run of form that saw them lose 11 of the last 12 games. Coach Kelly has kept faith with Michael Vick as the starting quarterback and Philadelphia are 13/8 (betfred) for victory. As stated before the Redskins won both meetings last season between these divisional rivals, winning by seven in Philadelphia and coasting to a 31-6 victory in Washington. The spread this time is between 3 and 3.5 points and I feel comfortable that the Redskins can cover this margin over an Eagles team still trying to find their feet under their new coach.

Those looking for a bet on a touchdown scorer will see that Alfred Morris is as short as 4/6 (CORAL/william hill) after an impressive season that saw him grab 13 touchdowns in his rookie year. For the Eagles LeSean McCoy looks like being option number 1 for Michael Vick and he is 4/5 (CORAL/william hill) to grab a touchdown at anytime.

Santana Moss could be the value selection at 11/4 (GENERAL) to grab a touchdown at anytime. Moss is not the first option for RG III but he might find the space behind the Eagles lines like he did last season when he grabbed a TD in both games against Philadelphia. This Eagles defence allowed the third most opponents last season and he can take advantage.

The second part of the double-header on Monday night is Houston at San Diego in a game that starts 3.15 am on British Eurosport. The Texans are the 5/9 (CORAL) favourites for the game as they seek to land their first ever victory over the Chargers. It has not been since 2009 that these teams have met and Houston have come a long way since then including a 12-4 record last season.

The Chargers are 17/10 (GENERAL) for victory as they look to start a new regime under coach Mike McCoy. The first-year coach knows he needs to find ways to turn around a side that had a 7-9 record last season and lost six of their last ten last season including three of their last four at home. The recommend bet in this game is to take the under 20.5 points for San Diego at 20/21 with SKYBET. The Chargers were ranked second to last in total offence last season and are up against a side who finished seventh in defence last season. The Texans will also welcome back from injury Brian Cushing who tore a ACL in week five of last season forcing him to miss the rest of the season. In those five games the Linebacker played only the Broncos managed to score over 17 points against the Houston defence.

SILVER: San Diego Chargers to score under 20.5 points v Texans, 20/21 (SKYBET)
