International Friendly

One of the biggest rivalries in South American and world football is about to take place this weekend when Argentina meet Brazil in Beijing for an international challenge match. Despite the match officially being a friendly, there is little that is friendly between these two huge football nations and the fans in China can expect to be treated to a full throttle South American derby.

Both teams have named very strong squads and out of their last seven friendly meetings, Brazil have won three, drawn one and lost three and therefore neither team has managed to gain an advantage over the last eight years. In 2012, the nations met three times, with Argentina winning twice and Brazil winning once, each victory was only by the odd goal and another close match can be expected this time out.

Off the back of a successful world cup, despite their defeat in the final to Germany, Argentina go in to the match as slight favourites to win at 6/4 with BetVictor, even though they have failed to beat Brazil in their last two attempts. Argentina also got revenge recently on the German side that beat them in the world cup final by defeating them 4-1 on their own soil and will have been buoyed by that result going in to this game.

The attacking talent afforded to Argentina manager Gerardo Martino is the envy of football coaches around the world with three world class strikers to pick from in Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain. A fine array of talent indeed and as expected, Messi is the favourite to open the scoring at 22/5 with Betvictor. However, better value can found elsewhere with attacking midfielder Angel Di Maria, who is in blistering form for his new club Manchester United. The winger has bagged three goals in his first five games for the Old Trafford club and also created three goals and scored one in the 4-1 rout of Germany last month. Di Maria will need to be stopped if Brazil are to win the game and he is available at 10/1 to score the first goal and 3/1 to score at any time with bet365.

After a disastrous end to their world cup, Brazil have overcome both Colombia and Ecuador with 1-0 victories in September and new manager Dunga will hope to continue that successful run against Argentina. It`s been notable that after conceding ten goals in their last two competitive matches, Brazil have tightened things up in their last two games and not conceded any goals. With the Copa America just around the corner, it will be a huge boost to Brazil if they can pull of a win here and they are 2/1 with SkyBet to do just that.

If the little canary are to be victorious then it will be down to Neymar to score the goals and the Barcelona striker is 5/1 with paddypower to score the opening goal of the game. In their previous match, a 1-0 win over Ecuador it was Willian who provided the winning goal and the Chelsea player is 5/1 with paddypower to score at any time in this one.

Although Dunga is clearly trying to shore things up at the back and the addition of Miranda is sure to help, the real talent in this game can can be found in the attacking third of the pitch with over 2.5 goals likely and this can be found at evens with bet365. The fact that this match is being played on a neutral ground makes it difficult to predict the outcome and a draw can be backed at 12/5 with SkyBet.
