Arsenal know that if they can beat Montpellier in the Champions League on Wednesday night then their fate is in their own hands going into the last day, even better if Schalke also win then both sides are through to the last 16. The Gunners won at Montpellier on matchday one and take on a side who have won just one of their last 12 matches in Europe and already out of the competition. Arsenal have won nine of their last eleven home games in the Champions League losing just one (though that defeat did come last time around at home to Schalke). All the evidence points to a home win though I’m not rushing to get involved at 1/3 (general). Arsenal have kept just one clean sheet in their last 15 in all competitions and the bet here looks like being both teams to score at 19/20 (william hill). The other game in the group sees Schalke at home to Olympiakos. The Greek side know that they really need a win here to qualify though a point at least gives them some hope. It is 5/11 (188 Bet) a Schalke victory while the draw is 53/14 (pinnacle) and the away win a best priced 37/5 (pinnacle). The recommended bet here is on Konstantinos Mitroglou to score as he has netted seven in his last seven and in four of his last five Champions League matches. The Greek forward is 7/2 (paddy Power/BWin) to score anytime and 23/2 (BWin) the opener.

Man City know that they must beat Real Madrid to just stay in the competition. It has been a terrible Champions League campaign for the English side and bookmakers have no faith in them getting anything here and they are 40/17 (Pinnacle) the victory. Real Madrid could also do with the win and they are 5/4 (paddy Power/ladbrokes) while the draw is a best priced 41/14 (Pinnacle). Real Madrid have scored two goals or over in 13 of their last 14 games and you can get them to score over 1.5 goals at 5/6 (boylesports/Stan James). The other game in this group pitches Ajax against Borussia Dortmund. The German side are 10/11 (general) to win in Holland while Ajax are 10/3 (Totesport/betfred/william hill) and the draw is 3/1 (Pinnacle). Take a punt on the first goal coming under the 28th minute which is 10/11 with Coral. Both sides are packed with goalscorers and the last two Ajax Champions League games have seen a number of early goals.

The early game Wednesday sees Zenit up against Malaga and the Russian side are the 5/6 (general) favourites. Malaga have already qualified for the last 16 and know that one point from their last two games will see them finish top of the group. Take the evens (boylesports/paddy Power) on the NO in the both teams to score market. This would have paid in seven of the last nine Zenit Champions League home games and in five of the six previous Malaga Champions League games. The other game in this group sees Anderlecht up against Milan with the Italians marginal favourites at the Belgians. It is 31/20 (BetVictor) a Milan victory, 27/14 (Pinnacle) an Anderlecht win and 52/21 (Pinnacle) the draw. Take the 4/5 (bet365/betfred/william hill) on both teams to score which would have paid in each of the last five Milan games.

The most one sided game on Wednesday night looks like being between Porto and Dinamo Zagreb with Porto as short as 1/7 (general). The better bet looks like being in the game between Dynamo Kiev and PSG where goalscoring machine Zlatan Ibrahimovic is 23/20 (sportingbet) to score anytime. The Swede has netted ten times in his last nine games and on the back of his four game show against England will be full of confidence, well even more so.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Both teams to score in Arsenal v Montpellier, 19/20 (william hill)
SILVER: Both teams to score in Anderlecht v Milan, 4/5 (bet365/betfred/William Hill)
BRONZE: Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score anytime v Dynamo Kiev, 23/20 (sportingbet)
