BWin are the first firm to offer punters a bet on Champions League losers in the Europa League and it is 13/5 that any of these sides win the competition. BetVictor meanwhile have decided that Man City will not be going any further in the Champions League and make them 16/1 for the Europa League. Of the sides currently in the competition Atletico Madrid are the ones expected to do best and are 7/1 (general). Inter are 13/1 (BWin) for Europa League glory while Liverpool are 14/1 (general), Anzhi Makhachkala are 16/1 (general), Tottenham are 20/1 (BetVictor) while Lazio are 25/1 (general) and so too are Newcastle (bet365/boylesports/ william hill).

Liverpool and Anzhi Makhachkala met at Anfield a few weeks ago with the home side emerging as 1-0 victors. Bookmakers make the Russians 4/5 (general) for victory while the draw is 11/4 (bet365/Blue Sq/888 Sport) and the Liverpool win is 4/1 (BetVictor). Liverpool have won just one of their last nine away from home in Europe and this looks a difficult game for the young side. Without Suarez the goalscoring threat of Liverpool (or lack of it) has been well documented and Anzhi have kept a clean sheet in their five previous Europa League home games so it might pay to get on the 11/8 (BetVictor/ladbrokes) on the home team to keep a clean sheet.

Despite what seems to be the best efforts of Alan Pardew to sabotage their Europa League campaign by selecting a reserve/youth side Newcastle are still flying high and currently top their group. This week they take on a Bruges who have recently sacked their manager. It is 6/4 (Blue Sq/888 Sport) the Belgians win, 135/67 (pinnacle) a Newcastle victory and 5/2 (Totesport/betfred) the draw. With the change in manager this does not look a game to get involved with and those who wish to bet should keep their stakes small and try a wager on the influential Sammy Ameobi at 11/1 (general) to score the first goal or 4/1 (Skybet/william hill) to net anytime.

Tottenham will be looking to bounce back from their poor showing against Wigan in the Premier League when they take on Maribor. The Slovenian champions held Tottenham at their own ground 1-1 a few weeks ago though might struggle to get anything out of the trip to White Hart Lane. The Slovenians have lost each of their last five away games in Europe though by the same rational I am not sure I can trust Spurs at the short price of 3/10 (general). My advise is to take Robert Beric in the goalscorer market. The player has been recently linked to Premier League duo Aston Villa and Norwich and is probably looking to impress. Beric has scored in two in his last three including when these sides last met and is 12/1 (bet365/BetVictor/paddy Power) to score the first goal or 4/1 (Skybet/william hill) anytime.

The best of the bets in the games not involving the English sides is in the tie between Partizan and Inter with the Italians looking value at 18/19 (pinnacle). Inter will enter this game full of confidence after ending the unbeaten run of Juventus and face a Partizan side with just one win from their six last games (including four losses). Also have a small interest on Czech midfielder Borek Dacal to score anytime for Rosenborg against Metalist. Dockal has already grabbed ten goals from midfield this season and is 6/1 with bet365.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Inter to beat Partizan Belgrade, 18/19 (Pinnacle)
SILVER: Anzhi to keep a clean sheet v Liverpool, 11/8 (BetVictor/ladbrokes)
BRONZE: Borek Dacal to score anytime for Rosenborg v Metalist, 6/1 (bet365)
