Football League 1 and 2 Preview

The big game in League One this weekend is the one that pitches Sheff United against the MK Dons. The MK Dons play host to a Blades side in great form who still remain undefeated in the league this season (winning eight and drawing eight). The 47/17 (pinnacle) on the Blades looks good value though bearing in mind all those draws it make sense to play the draw no bet market where Sheff U are available at 13/8 (Skybet/Coral/william hill). The MK Dons have won just two of their last six and have a recent home defeat to Stevenage to their name. The Blades are (pardon the pun) a cut above and should come out on top in this game.

At the start of the season I was a little down on the chances of Doncaster following their relegation from the Championship. I stand corrected though as Dean Saunders seems to be doing a good job clearing away all the dead wood and building a new side that is not heavily reliant on expensive loanees and veteran free agents looking to put themselves in the shop window. That being said I’m taking them to get beat this weekend as in form Bournemouth roll into town. Some things seem to go together, Strawberries and Cream, Fish and Chips, Phillip Schofield and controversy, add to this mix Eddie Howe and Bournemouth. Since both sides have been re-united they have taken off from where they left off and with five wins from their last six (and one draw). Take them at 8/5 (general) to get all three points off Doncaster.

Despite a 4-1 defeat of Walsall (tipped up at a big price for relegation here a few weeks ago) I can’t see Scunthorpe getting anything out of their game with Coventry. Mark Robins is a decent manager who probably never got the credit he deserved for his work at Barnsley and Rotherham and he slowly has the Sky Blues going in the right direction with six points from their last two games. Take the 21/20 (william hill) are offering on the Coventry victory against a Scunthorpe side with just that one win from their last eight.

Down in League Two and Barnet look good things to see off Morecambe at 31/11 (pinnacle) or 7/4 (Coral) in the draw no bet market. Barnet have three wins and a draw from their last five and take on a Morecambe side with no win in their last four. These two sides look to be headed in opposite directions so take advantage of the buzzing Bees before the bookmakers catch on.

Aldershot are another side who seem to have started to find life at the bottom of the table and they might be worth taking at 5/4 (paddy Power) in the draw no bet market. The Shots have picked up five points from their last three and take on a Bradford side with just two wins from their eight away games in League Two this season.

The third and final selection in League Two is one for the goals galore accumulators and features the game between York and AFC Wimbledon. These two met in the FA Cup last weekend and the game ended 1-1 and a repeat of that scoreline would do nicely. Seven of the last nine AFC Wimbledon games have seen both teams score as have the last three York home games. Both teams to score is available at 8/11 (general).

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Sheff United draw no bet v MK Dons, 13/8 (Skybet/Coral/william hill)
SILVER: Barnet draw no bet v Morecambe, 7/4 (Coral)
BRONZE: Coventry to beat Scunthorpe, 21/20 (william hill)
