The weekly Soap Opera that is the Football League goes twice weekly this week so let us guide you through the games and hopefully we can clean up (last bad pun I promise).

The big story of the last few days in the Football League is how Bolton have made an approach for Crystal Palace manager Dougie Howser MD. Sorry Freedman, Dougie Freedman. The young Scots manager has done an impressive job since taking over at Palace and it is clear why Bolton want him and also why Palace would want to keep him. Betting wise then it is probably best to ignore the game between Barnsley and Palace this Tuesday. Before this happened I thought Palace might be a good bet now though I will stay clear. You only have to look at Oxford when Chris Wilder was linked with the Coventry job to see how these things can affect a club.

Speaking of Oxford they look one of the bets of the midweek in their League Two game with Rochdale. You can get 9/4 (Coral) for an in-form Oxford to get something here or 5/4 (paddy Power) in the draw no bet market. The Us are in great form hammering Accrington Stanley 5-0 at the weekend which made it three wins, one draw and a defeat from their last five. The defeat can be excused as it came at Port Vale and not many sides are going to get anything from the high-flying Vale this season. Rochdale have not won any of their last four games at home and were easily beaten by Plymouth on Saturday. Also look for Tom Craddock to get among the goals (15/8 to score anytime with bet365), The Oxford front man has grabbed five in his last three games including four against Stanley at the weekend. Staying in League Two and speaking of Accrington which we were earlier then it might be worth opposing them as they take on York. Stanley are leaking goals and have let in 11 in their last three and take on a York side with just one defeat from their six away league games this season. Take the Minstermen at 9/5 (ladbrokes) to gain all three points here.

In League One Crawley look the pick of the bets to see off an MK Dons side without a win in their last four including a home defeat to Stevenage at the weekend. Crawley have meanwhile won four of their last five and it is surely name alone that has them as big a price as 23/15 (pinnacle). Also in League One I like the look of Colchester in the draw no bet market at Leyton Orient. Joe Dunne has won four of his six games since taking as the permanent manager including six points from his last two games. Things seem to be heading in the right direction while they take on an Orient side who might soon be going the other way with three defeats from their last four. Colchester are available at 5/4 (ladbrokes) in the draw no bet market.

Back to the Championship and I like the look of Jermaine Beckford at 7/5 (bet365) in the anytime scorer market. Beckford has scored in each of his last two for Huddersfield and will fancy his chances against a Peterborough side who have conceded 19 league goals this season. Charlie Austin did us proud in the anytime scorer market at the weekend and for some reason bookmakers still have him at better than evens. I would be offering 5/6 on the player to score anytime, boylesports are going 11/8, say thank you for very much for their kind offer.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Oxford to beat Rochdale in draw no bet market, 5/4 (paddy Power)
SILVER: York to beat Accrington Stanley, 9/5 (ladbrokes)
BRONZE: Charlie Austin to score anytime v Bristol City, 11/8 (boylesports)
