Bookmakers are split as to who should be favourites for the SuperBowl with Houston and New England both available at 11/2 (general). The 7-1 Texans have looked good this season with just the one defeat to Green Bay this season. The 5-3 Patriots are always dangerous to write off though thay price looks way too short on a side who have not really beaten anyone of note and have defeats to the Seahawks, the Cardinals and the Ravens already this season. Elsewhere in the market San Francisco are 69/10 (pinnacle), Atlanta are 71/10 (pinnacle), Green Bay are 17/2 (You Win), Denver are 10/1 (You Win), Chicago are 11/1 (Blue Sq/888 Sport), Pittsburgh are 17/1 (You Win) and Baltimore 20/1 (general).

The first live game on Sunday sees Atlanta at New Orleans. This is a strange game in that I could see arguements for both sides being a good bet. On the one hand you have a Falcons side with a perfect 8-0 record against a Saints with a losing 3-5 record. At 4/5 (william hill) I could see the arguement that Atlanta are great value. I could also see the arguement that New Orleans are value also as they are on the rise winning three of their last four including victories over the Eagles, the Buccs and the Chargers. This looks likes being a tight game between two high scoring offences and should be a good watch but a hard one to predict. If you must get involved why not take a play in the anytime touchdown scorer market on Chris Ivory who grabbed a TD against the Eagles last week and is seeing improved touches in the absence of Darren Sproles. Ivory is 9/4 (bet365/Blue Sq/888 Sport) to score at anytime.

If the Saints and Falcons was hard to call then the Cowboys and Eagles looks a nightmare as these are two inconsistent sides. Bookmakers make the visiting Dallas 4/5 (boylesports/BWin) favourites while Philadelphia are 23/20 (Totesport/betfred/pinnacle). The game has been dubbed the DesperationBowl with both teams 3-5 and knowing that they must win to keep alive their slim hopes of making the playoffs. The bet here might be to take the under 44.5 points available at 10/11 (general). This bet would have paid in four of the five Cowboys away games this season and in five of the last six Philadelphia games.

Into the late game and it looks a great battle between Houston and Chicago. The Bears are the 7/8 (Pinnacle) favourites and have a 4-0 record at home this season while the Texans are 21/20 (general). Except a tight bruising encounter between two of the best defences in the league The Texans though also have an elite offence and have not once failed to score over 19 points in a game this season so take Houston in the total team points to get over 19 which is available at 10/11 (BetVictor/Stan James). The Bears defence has conceded 44 points in the last two games and this was against the Titans and the Panthers which are sides not packed with anywhere near the options on offence that Houston have.

The final bet is to take Detroit to get something out of their visit to Minnesota. After losing three of their first four the Lions have started to pick up winning three of their last four with their one loss coming in a tight battle at Chicago. The Vikings meanwhile have ground to a halt after a strong start. Percy Harvin is on crutches, Christian Ponder looks shaky and the defence have kept just one of their last four opponents under thirty points. sportingbet and Skybet are both offering 20/27 on the Lions which looks good value.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Detroit to beat Minnesota, 20/27 (sportingbet/Skybet)
SILVER: Houston to score over 19 v Chicago, 10/11 (BetVictor/Stan James)
BRONZE: Chris Ivory to score anytime for Saints v Falcons, 9/4 (bet365/Blue Sq/888 Sport)
