Is it too early to class a game as a must win relegation six-pointer? If not then QPR v Reading on Sunday is such a game. QPR sit bottom of the table with just three points from nine games so far. Mark Hughes is a manager under threat after the slow start to the season and defeat here could spell the end of his time. The Rangers board though might want to be a little patient as the signs are in the last few weeks that they might be ready to turn that corner. I take the London side to get their first win of the season here which is available at 17/20 (general). QPR seemed to have tightened up at the back in recent weeks and should be able to get among the goals against a Reading side that has conceded 15 in their last five games in all competitions. Reading can take heart from the fact that they won here in the League Cup earlier in the season and it is 29/8 (pinnacle) that they emerge with all three points while the draw is a best priced 14/5 (pinnacle). Regular readers of this column (hello mum) will know that I often like to play the assist market that boylesports offer on the live games. Again I have a recommendation here take the 14/1 on offer that Jobi McAnuff assists the first goal or 9/2 to assist anytime. McAnuff has provided four assists in the last three Premier League games and this looks a great price. Those who want to stick to the goalscorer bets can get 6/1 (BetVictor/Coral) that Bobby Zamora nets the opener, which also the same price that Djibril Cisse is. Those looking for a Reading player to open the scoring can get Pavel Pogrebnyak at 21/2 (BWin).

The second half of the double header Sunday sees Liverpool take on Newcastle. Despite not winning any of their last 17 Premier League games at Anfield I think Newcastle could get something out of this game. Liverpool have only won three of their last 14 at Anfield in the Premier League and you can get 164/29 (Pinnacle) a Newcastle victory or 100/30 (Skybet) the draw. I like the idea of having both results on side so why not take the 4/1 (Coral) on Newcastle in the draw no bet market. Considering the home record of Liverpool and that Newcastle are actually higher in the league this season and finished higher than them last season then it seems incredible value.

Those looking for a first scorer bet in the game will see the market headed by Luis Suarez who is 9/2 (sportingbet/paddy Power/william hill) to net the opener. A word of caution though the Uruguayan has scored just one of his last nine Premier League goals at Anfield.

Newcastle will be hoping Dembe Ba is fit as he has been the leading scorer for the Magpies this season with seven goals in nine games. Ba is 9/1 (bet365) to grab the opener while Papiss Cisse is 19/2 (BWin). I also think the 4/7 (BWin) are offering on the away team to score seems generous. Newcastle have scored in five of their last six Premier League home games while Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in just two of their last 12 league games.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Newcastle to beat Liverpool Draw no bet market, 4/1 (Coral)
SILVER: QPR to beat Reading 17/20 (general)
BRONZE: Jobi McAnuff to assist v QPR, First Assist 14/1/Anytime 9/2 (boylesports)
