Saturday Live Games 27th Oct

The Saturday lunchtime sees Paul Lambert lead his old team up against his current team as Aston Villa take on Norwich at Villa Park.

Bookmakers make Villa the 42/41 (32 Red) favourites to win this game against a Norwich side who have won just one of their last eight meetings between these sides. Villa though have won just two of the last 16 Premier League matches at Villa Park and that looks a horrible price to be getting involved with. The Canaries will enter this game full of confidence after victory over Arsenal while the Paul Lambert factor hangs over the game. Those who think Norwich can get something out of this match can get 11/4 (Stan James) the draw and 16/5 (BetVictor) the Canaries away win. Grant Holt has grabbed three in three games and is 7/1 (general) to grab the opener. Paul Lambert must decide who to start up front with Darren Bent 5/1 (general) to score the opener while Christian Benteke is 6/1 (bet365/BWin/Coral). Those looking for someone at a bigger price should consider Wes Hoolahan at 16/1 (BlueSq/888 Sport) as the Irishman is playing just off Grant Holt. Hoolahan is 5/1 (Blue Sq/888 Sport) to score anytime. Even better value is Alex Tettey as the energetic midfielder has a great shot on him and isn’t afraid to try his luck from distance. The 28/1 (bet365) to score first or 10/1 (anytime) looks far too big.

The teatime kick-off on Saturday sees Man City take on Swansea as the Champions look to bounce back from huge disappointment in Europe this week. It is 1/4 (general) a City victory which is hard to oppose seeing as they have won 30 of their last 33 league home games and drawn the other three. Swansea beat City last season and if you think they can get a shock three points here it is 14/1 (general) while the draw is a best priced 59/10 (pinnacle). Man City have scored 41% of their league goals in the last 15 minutes of the game this season and it is 2/5 (sportingbet) that the last goal in this game is scored in the final 15 minutes while supersub Edin Dzeko is 4/1 (Totesport/betfred) to score the last goal.

I’m going to suggest a play on Michu to score as he is 16/1 (bet365) to grab the opener and he is 5/1 (ladbrokes/william hill) to score at anytime. The Spaniard is likely to start up front and is a prolific finisher netting six goals from just eight shots this season. The City defence looked all at sea against Ajax in midweek and they have managed to keep just one clean sheet in their last seven home games in all competitions. We talked last week about the tendency of Man City to be level at half time and that proved to be the case against West Brom. It is 85/40 (BetVictor) that the teams are all square at half-time and that could be the way to play this once again. Also look for goals I think Swansea must know that without Steven Caulker (back at Tottenham) their defence is not what it was while neither is the City defence. With the weather set to be cold (unless you read this in a hot country) then this looks one worth staying in for.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Man City v Swansea to be level at HT, 85/40 (BetVictor)
SILVER: Michu to score v Man City, First 16/1 (bet365), Anytime 5/1 (ladbrokes/william hill)
BRONZE: Alex Tettey to score v Aston Villa, First 28/1 (Bet365), Anytime 10/1 (Bet365)
