Premier League Preview 7th Dec

The pick of the six Premier League games Saturday is the one at the Emirates where Arsenal take on West Brom. The Gunners are 1/2 (general) for victory though anyone insane enough to take that price probably thinks Christopher Maloney (off X Factor fame) is also a talented singer. Arsenal have won just three of their last ten Premier League home games and two of these were against teams reduced to ten men. West Brom have stuttered a little in recent weeks losing their last two to Swansea and Stoke. I actually think this game will play into their hands though. By this I mean that when a team starts climbing the table and taking scalps they themselves can be come the hunted. Against Arsenal though West Brom do not have this problem and they can hit Arsenal on the counter. Skybet are going 15/8 West Brom, the draw in the double chance market and I think this has to be played.

Two out of form sides in the Premier League do battle as Chelsea face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Bookmakers make the visitors the 5/6 (Coral) favourites while the draw is 11/4 (bet365/Totesport/betfred/) and a Sunderland win is 4/1 (Totesport/betfred). Check for team-news first but should Connor Wickham feature then 12/1 (BetVictor) or 15/4 (bet365) that he scores anytime looks value as his height and presence should panic the Blues.

Swansea and Norwich are riding high in the form table with both teams having took 12 points from their last six games, the Canaries are unbeaten in their last nine in all competitions. The Swans are 20/23 (BetVictor) the victory while the draw is 52/19 (pinnacle) and the Norwich win is 47/12 (pinnacle). This is another tricky looking game to call as Swansea are on fire at the moment while Norwich will never give up a game. One way to play this is on the 28/1 (bet365/BetVictor) on Alexander Tettey to score first. Tettey is comfortable carrying the ball forward from midfield, he has a good shot on him and looks overpriced. He is 10/1 (bet365) to score anytime.

The Aston Villa v Stoke game pitches a decent home side against an awful away team. Take the game to be level at HT as both teams will look to keep things very tight. Villa have been level at HT in four of the last six (and the two they were not level in were games against the Manchester sides). Stoke have been level at HT in four of their last seven. For a bigger price take 0-0 at 7/4 (Stan James/william hill) in the Half Time correct score market.

Two of the weakest defences in the league go against each other as Southampton take on Reading and bookmakers are expecting a goal feast. I think though it might play to swim against the tide with the under 2.5 goals. These two teams know each other well from the Championship, in addition when sides of similar quality meet these games are often low scoring. The last three Southampton home games have all featured under 2.5 goals and this is also the case in three of the last four Reading away games. Take the 5/4 (BetVictor).

QPR take on Wigan and I think they could be worth chancing to get something out of the game at 13/10 (william hill) in the draw no bet market. Wigan have a number of injuries and suspensions at the back and I just think the Hoops will treat this game like a cup final.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: West Brom/Draw in double chance market v Arsenal, 15/8 (Skybet)
SILVER: QPR to beat Wigan in draw no bet market, 13/10 (william hill)
BRONZE: Southampton v Reading under 2.5 goals, 5/4 (BetVictor)
