The game of the day in League One is the one that pitches the two in-form sides against each other. Swindon and Bournemouth have both taken 13 points from their last five games (four wins and a draw). I can not call the game to be honest and think bookmakers have it about right with the home side Bournemouth 29/20 (bet365/BetVictor) while the draw is 41/17 (pinnacle) and a Swindon victory is 21/10 (bet365/BetVictor/william hill). I think goals might be the order of the day with two strong attacks, Bournemouth have netted a total of 21 goals from their last eight home games while Swindon have hit 14 in their last three games. With two potent attacks on show the over 2.5 goals at 68/67 (188Bet) looks the pick of the bets for those wanting to get involved in this game.

Tranmere are the current league leaders and they are at home to Crawley this weekend. A word of caution for those looking to back the Merseyside club at 25/19 (pinnacle) is that the influential Jake Cassidy has returned to Wolves. In addition Jean Louis Akpa Akpro and Abdulai Bell-Baggie are both likely to miss the game. Crawley are a little too in and out for my liking to be backing them at 12/5 (ladbrokes). This then looks a game to swerve from a betting point of view. Doncaster are level on points with Tranmere though suffered a setback this week when losing manager Dean Saunders. I must admit I’m not sure what to make of the change and how it will affect the Yorkshire side. Doncaster are not panicking into an appointment which makes sense and I could see them winning at Stevenage though 7/4 (Totesport/betfred) is not a price to be getting involved with.

It is not often that I would recommend backing a team without a win in their last four games but when their opponents have lost their last little eight then I am willing to make an exception. Scunthorpe are 5/4 (ladbrokes) in the draw no bet market against Colchester and this looks a decent price. Scunny have had a couple of decent draws in their last two and before that were a little unlucky to have to visit both Tranmere and Sheff Utd. They do have recent wins at Leyton Orient, Walsall and Coventry on their travels and are capable of seeing off a badly out of sorts Colchester. Akpo Sodje recently joined the club from Preston and he looks a good addition to a side who has been struggling for goals this season.

Also looking good value are Notts County to get an away win at Portsmouth at 15/13 (Pinnacle) with the price as short as 10/11 in some places. County are on a bit of a bad run of form with no win from their last six games though a trip to Portsmouth might just be what is needed. Pompey have lost each of their last four games and the club this week were forced to release four senior players this week as they could not afford to extend their contract. County are on an incredible run away from home with no defeat in their last 22 away games and although they have drawn their last five I think they should have enough to pick up all three points on their travels this time out.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Scunthorpe to beat Colchester, in draw no bet market, 5/4 (ladbrokes)
SILVER:Notts County to beat Portsmouth, 15/13 (Pinnacle)
BRONZE: Over 2.5 goals between Bournemouth and Swindon, 68/67 (188 Bet)
