Just one live game takes place in the Premier League on Saturday and it is a Midlands derby as West Brom take on Aston Villa at the Hawthorns. The Baggies are the 7/9 (pinnacle) favourites as Villa come into the game on the back of four defeats and one draw in their last five league games. The visitors have grabbed just two goals and conceded a massive 18 in these games. Paul Lambert will hope a local derby will inspire his side to stop the rot. Opponents West Brom are on a bad run of their own with no wins from their last five in all competitions as the early season promise seems to have fizzled out. The last two meetings between these sides have ended drawn and this game to finish all square can be backed at 14/5 (general) while the Villa win is available at 17/4 (bet365).

The first goalscorer market is headed by Romelu Lukaku who has grabbed three goals in his last two Premier League starts and is 4/1 (general) to grab the opener. Shane Long meanwhile is a 5/1 (bet365) chance with Peter Odemwingie 11/2 (general). Those looking for a Villa player to strike first can get Christian Benteke at 8/1 (BWin), Darren Bent is 9/1 (betway) while Andreas Weimann is a 10/1 (general) chance. I think Charles N’Zogbia at 22/1 (BWin) looks a huge price to grab the opener. N’Zogbia has failed to shine at Villa though this is a crazy price on a player that featured in the front three last week. Remember most bookmakers will refund stakes if the first goal is scored before your chosen player enters the pitch. He can also be backed at 15/2 (Bwin) in the anytime scorer market.

It finished 1-1 when these two met in September and bookmakers make that joint-favourite to be the score this time and it is available at 15/2 with BetVictor as is West Brom winning 1-0. 2-1 West Brom is available at 17/2 while 2-0 is 9/1 (both BetVictor). The 0-0 draw is a best priced 12/1 (general) while a 1-0 Villa win can be had at 16/1 (BetVictor). Bookmakers think this game will have goals with the over 2.5 goals a best priced 13/15 (pinnacle/32 Red) and the under 2.5 goals available at 20/19 (Pinnacle). Both teams to score can be backed at 4/5 (Skybet/boylesports/betway) while it is 11/10 (paddy Power) that this does not happen.

The other live game that evening comes in the Championship where Blackpool take on Cardiff. The Tangerines are in the hunt for their third manager this season after losing Ian Holloway to Crystal Palace and Micheal Appleton to Blackburn. MK Dons boss Karl Robinson was thought to be a target though he is said to have turned down the chance and elected to stay with the League One side. Blackpool are 15/8 (ladbrokes) for victory against top of the table Cardiff which offers no value at all. The Bluebirds are five games undefeated in the league and have four wins and a draw from their last five away from home in the Championship. Take Cardiff to get all three points here at 16/9 (Pinnacle).

The live lunchtime game sees St Mirren take on Ross County with four points seperating these sides in second and third bottom. Bookmakers make St Mirren the 13/10 (bet365) favourites though some value could be had in backing Ross County at 6/4 (paddy Power) in the draw no bet market. County picked up a good win at Hibernian last time out while St Mirren have won just two of their last seven at home. These two drew at Ross County and only a 89th minute strike denied County a point on their last visit to St Mirren Park.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Cardiff to beat Blackpool, 16/9 (Pinnacle)
SINGLE: Ross County in draw no bet market, 6/4 (paddy power)
BRONZE: Charles N’Zogbia to score v West Brom, first 22/1 (BWin) anytime 15/2 (BWin)
