Premier League

With the weather outside being so terrible (unless you are reading this in the other hemisphere) it is a perfect opportunity for staying in with some warm beverages and enjoying a bumper double-header of Premier League action.

The first of the two live games Sunday sees Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are 39/40 (pinnacle) for the victory which looks very short on the basis of some terrible performances at home in recent weeks. The Blues have won just one of their last seven in the Premier League at their own ground. The Gunners are unbeaten in their last five league games away from home and will be boosted by the news that Theo Walcott has finally put pen to paper on a new deal. Arsenal were undone by the early sending off of Laurent Koscielny against Man City and if they can keep eleven players on the park should be able to give Chelsea much more of a game than they did City. Arsenal can be backed at 10/3 (general) while the draw is available at 14/5 (Stan James). The Gunners won at Stamford Bridge last season and it might be worth chancing at these prices that they can get something out of this visit. Coral are going 19/20 Arsenal/Draw in the double chance market and this looks the way to play this game.

Those looking for a first goalscorer bet will see the market is headed by Dembe Ba at 9/2 (Stan James) and Ba netted twice against the Gunners for Newcastle when the two sides met at the end of December. Fernando Torres is an 11/2 (general) chance to grab the opener while Juan Mata and Frank Lampard are both 7/1 (general). Those looking for an Arsenal goalscorer will see that Theo Walcott is 8/1 (general) while Olivier Giroud is 9/1 (general) and Lukas Podolski 10/1 (general).

The second half of the double-header sees Man United travel to Tottenham and I am taking the hosts to make a happy day for the North London teams. Tottenham have already won at Old Trafford this season and they look a generous 5/4 (Stan James) in the draw no bet market. Both sides enter the game in good form with Spurs having lost just one of their last ten Premier League matches while United have won nine and drawn one of their last ten in the league. So why do I think Tottenham can beat United? They showed in the first game that the Red Devils can be vulnerable to pace and Gareth Bale will prove a real handful. I also think in Dembele and Scott Parker (with Sandro injured) Tottenham can get at United where they are weakest, in the centre of midfield.

The first goalscorer market is headed by Robin Van Persie who has scored five goals and assisted five in his last ten against Tottenham. The Dutchman is 4/1 (general) while Wayne Rooney is 11/2 (general) to open the scoring. Those looking to back a Tottenham player can get Jermain Defoe at 13/2 (general) and Gareth Bale at 17/2(BWin).

One last bet I would recommend is Patrice Evra in the assist markets that boylesports run. The full-back created two goals against Liverpool last weekend yet is available at a generous 7/1 in the anytime assist market and is 22/1 to grab the first assist. With the Tottenham wingers not known for helping out their full-backs as much as they should Evra might be given room to get down the flank and get some crosses in.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Arsenal/draw double chance v Chelsea, 19/20 (Coral)
SILVER: Tottenham to beat Man Utd in draw no bet market, 5/4 (Stan James)
BRONZE: Patrice Evra to assist v Tottenham, First 22/1, anytime 7/1 (both boylesports)
