The Sky cameras shift to the Football League in the absence of any Premier League or Championship action. Sunday sees a League One double header which pitches Preston against the MK Dons. It is the MK Dons who bookmakers make the favourites despite having won just one of five away games this season in the league (and that win came against bottom side Bury). I can not be advising anyone to take them at 13/8 (betfred). The home team offers a little more appeal as they are beginning to develop under Graham Westley. North End have won three of their last four and have lost just one of five games at home this season (that was to Crawley). The best price on a Preston victory is 135/67 (pinnacle) which is generous and those who want to cover the draw can do so at evens (general) in the draw no bet market. Games involving Preston tend to be high scoring with each of their last six featuring four or more goals. You can get 8/11 (bet365) that both teams score which has also happened in each of the last six Preston games. You can get 42/41 (188 Bet) over 2.5 goals and 12/5 (bet365) over 3.5 goals.

The first goalscorer market is headed by Preston striker Stuart Beavon who has netted in two of the last three Preston home games. While MK Dons striker Dean Bowditch is 13/2 (bet365/Stan James). Those looking for a player at a bigger price might want to consider Scott Laird who has already scored three this season and is 16/1 (bet365/ladbrokes) to score first or 6/1 (ladbrokes) to score at anytime.

The second game on the sunday sees Shrewsbury play host to Walsall. Bookmakers make the Shrews the 5/4 (Totesport/betfred/william hill) favourites for the game while the draw is a best priced 37/15 (pinnacle) and a Walsall victory is 88/35 (Pinnacle). I like the look of Walsall in the draw no bet market at 53/35 (32 Red). The visitors have lost just once this season (at Stevenage). They have wins at AFC Bournemouth, Notts County and Portsmouth as well as a draw at Oldham. Shrewsbury have won just two of six at home this season and those wins came against an out of sorts Preston and a managerless Coventry side. Take the away side for victory here.

The Monday night game is from League Two where Port Vale play host to Oxford. Vale are the 39/40 (Pinnacle) favourites for the game as they lie second in the league some fourteen places above Oxford. A word of caution though since it was confirmed that manager Chris Wilder was not leaving for Coventry results have started to pick up for Oxford and they have taken seven points from their last three games. I would not be rushing to back them at 16/5 (william hill) as the home side are difficult opponents therefore this is a game I would swerve in the match bet market. The first goalscorer market is headed by Tom Pope who is on fire at the moment. The Vale striker has 11 goals in 11 games so far and offers huge appeal at 6/5 (Bet365/ladbrokes) to score at anytime. Opponents Oxford have shipped four in their last three games and 21 for the season. Speaking of Pope he has scored two or more goals on three occasions this week and the 6/1 (Bet365/betfred) are offering on him to score two or more also comes recommended.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Walsall to beat Shrewsbury in DNB market, 53/35 (32 Red)
SILVER: Tom Pope to score anytime for Port Vale v Oxford, 6/5 (Bet365/ladbrokes)
BRONZE: Preston to beat MK Dons in DNB market, evens (general)
