The Westpoint Arena in Exeter is the venue for the Premier League Darts this Thursday night, here is our guide to the best of the bets in week four.

The opening game of the weekend is the one that pitches the two Scots against each other as Robert Thornton takes on Gary Anderson. Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair with Anderson the marginal favourite at 11/8 (Skybet) while Thornton can be backed at 6/4 (general) and the draw is 7/2 (general). Thornton is one of three players who remain unbeaten this season, winning in the first week and drawing his last two. Anderson was a winner in week two but sandwiched that performances with losses in week one and week three. My recommendation is to avoid the game markets and take a punt on the total 180s market. boylesports are offering 11/10 that the game has over 6.5 180s which the stats suggest is a very strong possibility. Thornton has hit 14 so far in three weeks while Anderson has hit ten. This is a combined total of 24 in just three weeks and suggests that they should have no problem going over the 6.5 mark again.

The second match of the evening sees Andy Hamilton taking on Michael Van Gerwen. The Dutchman is the 8/15 (Skybet/boylesports) favourite for the game and he looked in great form last week when seeing off Van Barneveld. Van Gerwen followed this up with back-to-back floor victories over the weekend on the Tour. Hamilton though is a decent player who has won his last two in the Premier League and looks to have been under-estimated at 22/5 (BWin). I would recommend a play on Hamilton on the handicaps. You can get 7/4 (Coral) Hamilton +1.5 or Hamilton +2.5 can be backed at 10/11 (BetVictor). The Hammer is a battler who will fight for every leg and this could be enough to see him home on the handicap.

Third up is the game between Phil Taylor and James Wade and with both these players averaging over 100 last week we could be in for a great encounter. Taylor is the 2/5 (william hill) favourite while Wade is 5/1 (general) which for a player of his quality could be huge. His recent record against Taylor in the Premier League has not been great though and (excluding play-off meetings) Taylor has taken 32 of the last 40 legs on offer between the pair. This should be a fun game to watch but not one to bet on.

Three weeks in and an unlikely name sits bottom of the Premier League Darts table as Adrian Lewis remains the only player yet to gain a point. Lewis is 5/4 (Coral) for relegation. His opponent this Thursday night is the man just above him in the table, Wes Newton. Newton remains the 1/2 (Coral) favourite for relegation despite picking up the first point of his season last week. Lewis is the 11/10 (general) favourite for the game and nothing in his recent form suggest that represents any value. Newton at 9/5 (boylesports) will appeal to some though again I make this a game to avoid from a betting point of view as Lewis is the kind of player who could catch fire at any point.

The final game of the evening is the one that pitches Raymond Van Barneveld against Simon Whitlock. Despite losses last week both players are playing well and both will expect to make the last four. The Dutchman is a 11/10 (general) chance to win the game while the Australian is 15/8 (ladbrokes) victory. The best bet in this game is in taking the game to go the distance by getting on the 5/4 (Skybet/sportingbet) that the game goes over 11.5 legs.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Over 6.5 180s between Thornton and Anderson, 11/10 (boylesports)
SILVER: Hamilton with + 2.5 start over Van Gerwen, 10/11 (BetVictor)
BRONZE: Hamilton with +1.5 start over Van Gerwen, 7/4 (Coral)
