With two games taking place Friday night then just the ten matches are happening in the Championship on Saturday here is our guide to the best of the bets.

The best bet of the weekend in the Championship is in the game involving the leaders where Cardiff are a remarkable 8/5 (BetVictor/william hill) to see off Middlesbrough. Boro have won just one of their last nine in the league and out of sorts Millwall won here last week. The Bluebirds have won six of their last seven away from home in the league. History is also on the side of Cardiff who have won on four of their last five visits to Middlesbrough in all competitions. I can not understand how bookmakers can have Cardiff priced so highly and as such recommend them as the bet of the week at this level.

Sticking with this game and I would also recommend a play on Fraizer Campbell in the anytime scorer markets at 2/1 (BetVictor). The former Sunderland player will have extra motivation against Boro and he is in good form netting five goals in his five appearances since his January move.

Another bet I like the look of is in the Blackpool and Bristol City game where the under 2.5 goals appeals. pinnacle are offering 17/16 which seems very generous. Blackpool have failed to score in each of their last three games while City under Sean O’Driscoll will be compact and organised and try to keep things tight. City have scored just two times in their last five away games and three of these have seen under 2.5 goals. It could be a tight and nervy affair at Bloomfield Road and the under goals looks the way to play it. Having said that if there was to be a goal in the game it might will come from Jon Stead who netted two last weekend and looks a very generous 10/3 (paddy Power) to score anytime. Stead was called ’unplayable’ by Barnsley manager David Flitcroft and City will put a lot of emphasis on set-pieces as they look to nick something on the break.

Despite their loss at Bristol City last weekend the form team in the division are Barnsley who have won five of their last six games in the league in addition to a run to the FA Cup Quarter Finals. This weekend they face Bolton who themselves are on a good run of form going five games unbeaten, winning three of these. Bookmakers are having trouble splitting them making Barnsley 15/8 (BetVictor) while Bolton are 17/10 (boylesports/Blue Sq/888 Sport) and the draw is 87/35 (pinnacle). Both teams are scoring for fun at the moment and this could be one for your both teams to score coupon at 3/4 (ladbrokes). This would have paid in each of the last five Barnsley games and in six of the last seven Bolton games in all competitions.

The live evening game in the Championship puts Sheffield Wednesday against Nottingham Forest. Wednesday are on a great run of form losing none of their last seven in the league and just one of their last twelve. It is 17/10 (bet365/BetVictor) that the Owls take all three points here while the draw is 12/5 (general) and a Forest victory is 15/8 (general). Forest though are also in good form taking seven points from their last three, winning their last two.

This looks a tough game to call and those who want a bet on the TV game might want to consider the NO in the both teams to score market at 21/20 (BetVictor). This bet would have paid in five of the last seven Wednesday home games and in five of the last seven Forest away games.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Cardiff to beat Middlesbrough, 8/5 (BetVictor/william hill)
SILVER: Blackpool and Bristol City, under 2.5 goals 17/16 (pinnacle)
BRONZE: Frazier Campbell to score anytime v Middlesbrough, 2/1 (BetVictor)
