After an explosive week 1 NFL returns as teams continue on the long road to Super Bowl 47. We have a preview of the action and unlike the Oakland Raiders we know how to SNAP (up the value).

The Thursday night/Friday Morning (delete as appropriate to your own timezone) game sees the Chicago Bears take on the Green Bay Packers. What a game this promises to be. The Packers are coming into this off the back of a rare home defeat and the side who went 15-1 last season will not want to go 0-2 to start this season. Green Bay are 19/50 (boylesports/pinnacle) which I can not be having. Chicago are a very good side and in Cutler and Marshall have a great 1-2 punch. I can not call the match result and therefore I would suggest a small bet on James Jones to score at anytime. Jones grabbed a touchdown against the 49ers in the opening game and what was noticeable was how many times the Packers looked to Jones. At 20/1 (boylesports) and 6/4 (bet365) anytime he looks the bet.

A number of games take place Sunday with New Orleans and Carolina meeting in the first of the live matches. Both sides started the season with defeats and know that they can not afford to start the season 0-2. Saints looked all at sea in week one and it is 8/11 (pinnacle) that they bounce back against the Panthers. The handicap line meanwhile is just 2.5 points. I like the look of over 51 points at 13/14 (188bet). The Saints defence was awful in week one and could allow Carolina points. Offence wise the Saints is one of the best in the league and therefore the overs looks the way to play.

The second live game pitches the Washington Redskins at the St Louis Rams. As impressive as RG III was in week one you have to think that the Rams coaches have seen him on tape and have special things prepared for him this week. The Rams defence worked well against Matthew Stafford and Stafford is (currently) a better quarter-back than Griffin. 24/17 (pinnacle) seems generous as the Rams are the home side and ran Detroit close last week.

The final live game sees the San Francisco 49ers up against the Detroit Lions. I like the look of the 49ers to cover the handicap line of 6.5 points. San Francisco picked apart a Packers team (at their own venue) that was widely considered the best in the league. Alex Smith might not be the next Joe Montana but he is a very under-rated player. The 49ers have the running game of Frank Gore with the receiving options of Randy Moss, Mario Manningham and Michael Crabtree. Still not to worry the defence is weak, oh no wait the defence is killer. If Matt Stafford thought St Louis was tough wait until he faces the Niners defence, take San Francisco to cover.

The best bet in the non-live games is the Dallas Cowboys to cover the three point spread against Seattle Seahawks (10/11-Skybet/william hill). Despite being a tough place to win (Seattle) I can’t see past the Cowboys here. Seahawks quarter-back Russell Wilson struggled against the Arizona Cardinals and this Dallas defence is even tougher.

Monday Night Football has just the one game this week as Denver take on Atlanta. Both sides emerged victorious in their opening games and this looks like being a very close game. I like the 7/2 (general) on the Falcons to win by 1-6 while covering the same scoreline for Denver to win by (1-6) at 4/1 (general).
