Bayern Munich and Manchester City fans will know the route to each others grounds like the back of their hand come the end of this season`s UEFA Champions League as the teams have yet again been paired together in the group stages.

Despite being favourites to both qualify from the group, AS Roma will be looking to cause a shock and make their way in to the knock-out rounds at the expense of one of the two sides. The fourth team making up the group, CSKA Moscow should offer very little in terms of a threat, both in the individual matches and for qualification as a whole.

Manchester City could not have asked for a tougher start to their Champions League campaign, with a trip to the Allianz Arena being the last thing any team in this season`s competition would want to make. Pressure will be on Pep Guardiola to deliver the famous trophy, especially after being comprehensively beaten 5-0 on aggregate by Real Madrid at the semi-final stage last season. The recent signing of Xabi Alonso has strengthened the midfield area following the loss of Toni Kroos. Other additions to the side include Mehdi Benatia, brought in from fellow group contenders Roma and striker Robert Lewandowski from domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund, which means that Bayern will be stronger than ever before.

The German`s can be backed at 4/6 with SkyBet to come out on top against Manchester City and with fans of the club seemingly not content with winning the Bundesliga, Guardiola will want to get off to the best possible start. New Polish striker Robert Lewandowski has been brought in to score goals in the big games and he is available at 15/4 to open the scoring in this one, with world cup winner Thomas Mueller on offer at 9/2.

Manuel Pellegrini will be drawing on last seasons 3-2 win at the Allianz Arena as his team prepares to kick off another Champions League season. Having said that, he will not want a repeat of the opening stages of that match, which saw his team concede 2 early goals. Manchester City have been relatively disappointing in the Champions League over recent years and they will be hoping to make the latter stages of the competition this time around. The English champions are outsiders for this match however, with odds of 4/1 being offered at betfred. Having said that, both teams beat each other away from home last season and Manchester City will want to leave Munich with something on the board from their first game, the draw is available at 10/3 with bet365. However, with Roma facing off at home against CSKA Moscow, neither team will want to fall behind the Italians in the early exchanges of what could be a closely fought group between Roma, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

If fit, Sergio Aguero will be a key man for Manchester City if they are to take anything from the game, he can be backed at 15/2 with Coral to score the first goal and 9/4 to find the back of the net at any time during the match.

Bayern Munich are available at 9/2 with Coral to win the Champions League this season and Manchester City are on offer at 14/1.
