4:00 pm - King Power Stadium

Two of the Premier League’s Midland clubs will go head-to-head in Sunday’s late kick-off as Leicester City host Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium. The home side will start this match in the knowledge that they have only ever lost once at home to their visitors in the Premier League era.

High-flying Foxes

It may still be early days in the Premier League but Leicester City are sitting comfortably in the top four having gained eight points from their first four games. Their unbeaten start has given them a six point cushion on the teams in the bottom three and they are four points ahead of their opponents.

Their early-season showings have come as a surprise to many critics who predicted that they would struggle from the off under new boss Claudio Ranieiri. In contrast, the experienced Italian has brought an atmosphere of calmness and confidence to the East Midlands club.

Unconvincing Villa

The West Midlands team started the season positively with a win at newly-promoted Bournemouth but failed to secure a victory in their subsequent three games. A home draw against Sunderland followed losses to Manchester United and Crystal Palace leaving Tim Sherwood’s team hovering in the precarious zone between mid-table and the bottom three.

Team news

The Foxes will hope that in-form Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez will be fit to face Villa this weekend after suffering from a back strain. The 24-year-old has already bagged 4 goals for his team this term and has been instrumental in their turbo-charged start to the season. Villa have a few more issues with Gueye, Grealish, Agbonlahor and Traore all on the doubtful list, while Crespo Rincon, Gardner and Okore will definitely miss out.

Betting odds and tips

Leicester have hosted Villa nine times in Premier League history recording four wins and four draws in the process. Their only defeat came back in 2004 when Villa ran out 5-0 winners.

The teams have met a total of 18 times since 1992 with eight of those encounters finishing as draws, six ending as wins for Leicester and four resulting in victory for Villa.

With the draw such a common result between these teams, the 11/4 available with bet365 looks like a good bet. Riyad Mahrez can be backed at 27/1 with 888sport and unibet in the Anytime Goal Scorer market.
