The ATP Erste Bank Open starts this week in Vienna and the field has been boosted by the entries of both David Ferrer and Andy Murray, who are both attempting to earn points and qualify for the end of season tour finals in London. The best that Ferrer managed during the Asian section of the tour was a quarter final spot in Shanghai, which ended in defeat to Novak Djokovic and Murray won the Shenzhen Open but will have been disappointed to lose to Ferrer in the round of 16 at the Shanghai Masters. Ferrer currently finds himself in 9th place in the race to London rankings with Murray in 10th and both players need to do well in Vienna if they are to break in to the top eight and qualify.

If Ferrer is to add to his points total this week, then he needs to make it all the way through to the final and is 11/4 with Coral to win the event. Murray on the other hand, needs to make it to the quarter finals to pick up points but will be aiming to go all the way and is 6/4 with betfred to do just that. Despite the fact that Ferrer defeated Murray last week, the Scotsman is still the favourite for this tournament with the bookies and as both are in separate halves of the draw, there is a good chance they could face off again in the final.

If either player fails to make it to the final then it could be due to one man, Feliciano Lopez, who finds himself in Murray`s section of the draw, with a possible meeting at the semi-final stage. Having made the semi-finals at the Shanghai Masters last week, the Spaniard is in good form and will be confident of staging an upset against Murray should they meet. Lopez is 17/2 with BetVictor to win the event.

Another factor to consider, especially as far as Ferrer , Murray and Lopez are concerned is the flight time over from China in order to be ready to play in this event. We all know that professional tennis players do a lot of travelling but they are not machines and it will take it`s toll on the body and mind. One player looking to take advantage of this is Dutchman Robin Haase, currently number 72 in the world. Haase has not had any long distance travelling to contend with, having recently played in France, reaching the quarter final in Rennes. In addition to this, the event in France was indoor, meaning that Haase comes in to the Erste Bank Open having already played in very similar conditions and can look back on the experience of reaching the final in Austria last year. Although Haase has not had a great season in general, he will be fresh and is 33/1 to win the tournament with stanjames.

Other outside options include the big serving Croat Ivo Karlovic who is in the same side of the draw as Haase and is 20/1 with BetVictor to win the event and German Philipp Kohlschreiber, who is available at 16/1 with the same firm.
