remier League preview and odds: Crystal Palace vs West Ham United

October 15, 2016 17:30pm - Selhurst Palace

Premier League

Resurgent Crystal Palace will seek to extend their unbeaten run to six games on Saturday when they welcome out-of-sorts West Ham United to Selhurst Park in the Premier League.

Differing fortunes for London clubs

Crystal Palace had a great start to last season and were flirting with the European places by Christmas. Unfortunately, their form took a nosedive in 2016 and they finished the season just five point clear of the drop zone. As a result, Palace fans might be wary of getting too excited about their current run of form which has seen them rise to eighth in the table.

The Eagles began the current campaign with two-straight defeats but have remained unbeaten since. Their turnaround in form coincided with the arrival of record signing Christian Benteke who has already contributed three goals since making the £30m switch from Liverpool.

Alan Pardew’s men have lost just one of their last six Premier League matches on home soil although they have conceded a goal in every game they have played this season, at home and away.

Opponents West Ham United have suffered am early season slump to rival Palace’s post-Christmas decline. After qualifying for Europe last season, the Hammers were expected to maintain their place as one of the country’s top eight clubs as they settled into their 54,000-seater stadium.

Slaven Bilic’s men have won just one of their seven matches this season, having drawn one and lost five. As a result, they are currently occupying the drop zone with a total of just four points. They have yet to pick up a point on the road and have shipped at least one goal in every away game they have played.

Team news

The home side have significant injury issues with Pape Souare, Scott Dann, Loic Remy and Jonathan Benteke all out of action.

Meanwhile, the visitor’s medical problems are even worse with Samuel Byram, Arthur Masuaka, Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho, Gokhan Tore and Andre Ayew all still undergoing treatment.
