Premier League preview and odds: West Ham United vs AFC Bournemouth

August 21, 2016 16:00pm - London Stadium

Premier League

West Ham United will begin life at their new home on Sunday when they welcome second-termers AFC Bournemouth to the London Stadium in Stratford.

Both sides looking for first points of the season

The London Stadium will be christened by two of last season`s surprise packages on Sunday as West Ham and Bournemouth go on search of their first points of the new campaign.

West Ham United quit the Boleyn Ground at the end of last season and will now play their football at the former Olympic Stadium in Stratford. AFC Bournemouth will be the guests for the inaugural match which will round off this weekend`s Premier League schedule.

The Hammers failed to record a point in their opening game after being felled by a late Diego Costa goal away to Chelsea on Monday night. After finishing seventh last season with a record Premier League points haul, the Irons will be hoping that it does not take too long to settle into their new home as they seek to establish themselves as a top-four challenger.

Meanwhile, AFC Bournemouth also got off to a losing start, falling 1-3 at home to Jose Mourinho`s Manchester United. Eddie Howe`s men are entering their difficult second season in the top flight and will be hoping to build on last year`s 16th place finish. They actually performed slightly better on the road last year, winning six of their 19 away games.

Team news

Record signing Andre Ayew has joined Sofiane Feghouli, Aaron Cresswell, Manuel Lanzini, Doneil Henry and Diafra Sakho in the West Ham treatment room.

Meanwhile, Baily Cargill, Emerson Hyndman, Junior Stanislas and Tyrone Mings make up the list of Bournemouth causalities.

AFC Bournemouth: LWDWD

Betting odds and tips

A new ground could take time to get used to and (crowd aside) this could feel like an away game for both sets of players. Bournemouth travelled fairly well last year and the draw could be worth a punt.
