Neither Ross Fisher nor Ryan Moore featured in the US Open at The Olympic Club and that is probably a good thing as they prepare to tee up in the BMW International Open and Travelers Championship respectively this week.

Fisher, around 16-1 to win the European Tour event, has good claims based on his recent results and his past performances at Gut Larchenhof, the new home of the BMW International Open that moves away from Munich for the first time.

Gut Larchenhof has a long history of staging European Tour events so there is plenty of course form on which to base betting decisions. Fisher finished in a tie for 18th in the 2009 Mercedes-Benz Championship at the venue and he would have probably won the title had he shot anything half-way decent in the third round. He went 67-69-78-69. The year before that the Englishman was joint third, four shots adrift of the 13-under-par score of Robert Karlsson.

Fisher is as fresh as a daisy after missing last week`s US Open in San Francisco, which was a typical United States Golf Association-run torture test, and the European Tour event in France. He arrives in Germany with his two most recent results being an outright second and joint sixth.

A fifth European Tour victory is only a matter of time for the 31-year-old from within a pitching wedge of Royal Ascot and it could come in Munich against a field featuring what will be a lot of mentally and physically exhausted golfers.

Other BMW International Open entries worth considering given their recent form, course statistics and absence from the US Open marathon include David Drysdale (around 80-1), Alistair Forsyth (125-1), Bernhard Langer (80-1), Paul Lawrie (20-1), Marcel Siem (33-1) and Jeev Miikha Singh (66-1).

In the United States, the Travelers Championship is an event for which you can make arguments for several golfers but the number-one pick is Ryan Moore because he loves the River Highlands layout and he is in excellent all-round shape.

Twice tied for second place in the Travelers Championship, Moore has had two weeks off since finishing joint 38th at the Memorial. Averaging 66.17 for his last 12 rounds at River Highlands and a proven winner, particularly in his amateur days, he is a value proposition at around 25-1.

Most of the other Travelers Championship entries who have proven themselves at River Highlands in recent years are backing up from the US Open and, therefore, not ideal punting vehicles after such a gruelling examination.

Furthermore, Travelers Championship competitors backing up from the US Open have had to travel the entire width of America to get from one tournament to the other.

If you are willing to make an exception to the rule then consider the likes of Padraig Harrington (around 20-1), Fredrik Jacobson (28-1), Hunter Mahan (14-1), Bo Van Pelt (28-1) and Bubba Watson (25-1). And do not overlook shock US Open runner-up Michael Thompson (66-1), who was outright fourth in the 2011 Travelers Championship in Connecticut.
