Having seemingly found a bit of form prior to the international break, Louis van Gaal will want to prove that this was not another false dawn and that Manchester United have finally turned the corner and are back to something like their old selves. The Red Devil`s opponents, West Bromwich Albion have also found a bit of form in recent matches, including back-to-back Premier League wins prior to the defeat against Liverpool at Anfield last time out. Even in that defeat to Liverpool, manager Alan Irvine can still be pleased with the improvements his team have made in the last month and they were unlucky not to come away from the game with something to show for their efforts.

Having said that, Manchester United still enter this match as favourites and are 3/4 with BetVictor to leave the Hawthorns on Monday night with all three points. To do this, they will need to cope with the continued absence of England striker Wayne Rooney and are likely to start with a combination of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao in attack. Falcao got off the mark in the home match against Everton before the international break and the Colombian is 4/1 with paddypower to get the first goal of the game and his partner van Persie is priced at 9/2 with bet365 to break the deadlock. The strike partnership is clearly still work in progress and since joining the club, midfielder Angel Di Maria has been Manchester United`s stand out performer, breaking from midfield and both creating and scoring goals. The Argentinian international is 2/1 with betfred to score at any time during the match.

West Bromwich Albion will be looking towards the fact that Manchester United have failed to win on the road yet this season and they have a good record against the top teams at the Hawthorns, with only Manchester City coming away with all three points last season. West Brom are 4/1 with bet365 to defeat Manchester United but considering they drew every home match against the top six last season other than Manchester City, the 3/1 offered by the same firm for a draw could prove to be better value.

If WBA are to take all three points then striker Saido Berahino will have to continue his recent good form that has seen the England under 21 international score six goals in his last nine games and he is 8/1 with paddypower to get the first goal of the game. Having witnessed Manchester United`s last away match, a humiliating 5-3 defeat at Leicester City, West Brom must fancy themselves to score in this game, especially as United still have injury concerns at the back. With Manchester United`s potent attacking line-up, they will also be creating chances in the match and the odds of 3/4 with boylesports for there to be over 2.5 goals is tempting. In fact, the last three Premier League games between these two teams has seen over 2.5 goals scored in them.

After this match, Manchester United face a trio of difficult matches, at home to Chelsea and away to both Arsenal and local rivals Manchester City. Therefore, Louis van Gaal will know that three points really are a must in this game if they want to compete for the top four. With this in mind, the 5/2 on offer from Coral for Manchester United to win with both teams to score is worth a punt
