Three different winners from the opening three races has made this a very interesting start to the F1 season. Here is a guide to how the outright markets are shaping up and a look at the next race on the schedule, the Bahrain GP.

Defending champion Sebastian Vettel is the name at the top of the F1 stan Bahraingdings on 52 points though the Red Bull driver has a real battle on his hands this season to keep his title. The German must be worried about the way he only managed fourth in the Chinese Grand Prix last time out as his Red Bull trailed Ferrari, Lotus and Mercedes. The chasing pack are being lead by Fernando Alonso who is nine points behind and 15/8 (Totesport) in the betting. The Spaniard look good in winning at China last time out and I think he must be backed at this price as he has a car to challenge Red Bull this season. Last season Alonso ran Vettel to the wire when the Red Bull looked stronger and the Ferrari looked weaker. The third man in the mix is Kimi Raikkonen who sits three behind Vettel and six ahead of Alonso in second. The Lotus driver won the opener in Australia and was second behind Alonso in China. The consistency the Finn shows could lead to him representing value at 13/2 (bet365/Coral/william hill). The other man with title ambitions will be Lewis Hamilton who is getting the hang of things in the Mercedes coming third on his last two starts. Although a little behind on 40 points Hamilton is a master of qualification and if he get himself on the Pole like he did in China the wins will follow. He can not be dismissed at 9/1 in a long season.

Over in the Constructors standings things are very tight with Red Bull leading the way on 78 from Ferrari on 73. I think Alonso and Vettel will run each other very close in the points which means this market is a battle between the other two drivers, Massa and Webber. Massa currently leads Webber by four and if he can keep this up over the course of the season then Ferrari look the team to side with at 7/4 (general) as opposed to the 11/10 (BetVictor) on Red Bull. Others in the mix are Mercedes at 12/1 (888 Sport), Lotus at 14/1 (Coral/william hill) and McLaren at 40/1 (general).

The next race is the Bahrain GP which once again is making headlines for off track matters rather than those on track. The race itself has been run eight times since 2004 (cancelled once in 2011). Fernando Alonso is a three time winner here and is the 5/2 (general) favourite to win the race this weekend. Sebastian Vettel won here in 2012 and is 13/5 (paddy Power/William Hill). Others expected to be in the mix are Kimi Raikkonen at 4/1 (888 Sport/William Hill) and Lewis Hamilton at 10/1 (general). The best bet in this race is the 6/5 (bet365/paddy Power) on Jenson Button to finish in the top six. With Webber expected to be hit by a three place grid penalty this opens the top six up and Button finished fifth last time out in China. The Englishman will know the track well as he won here in 2009.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Fernando Alonso to win the Drivers Title, 15/8 (Totesport)
SILVER: Ferrari to win the Constructors title, 7/4 (general)
BRONZE: Jenson Button to finish top six in Bahrain GP, 6/5 (bet365/paddy Power)
