League 2

With just three games to play in League Two things are racing to a dramatic conclusion. Here is our guide to the best of the bets from this division.

Gillingham know that a victory this weekend against Cheltenham can secure them the League Two title. It will not be easy though as the Robins need all three points to keep up their own hopes of automatic promotion. Bookmakers are having trouble splitting the pair with the home side Cheltenham marginal favourites at 17/10 (bet365/BetVictor). Gillingham meanwhile are available at 15/8 (bet365) while the draw is a best priced 12/5 (general). Like last season Cheltenham are once again hitting bad form at the business end of the season and have lost two of their last three. At home they are still doing the business winning each of the last four and with a point likely proving enough for Gillingham I would be wary of putting the division leaders into any accumulators.

Port Vale are limping their way to promotion and have won just two of their last ten games. This weekend they face a difficult away game to a Rochdale side who did the business for us in midweek. Dale have now won each of their last three and are unbeaten in their last five. boylesports have them available at 19/10 for victory here and this looks on the generous side. The pressure is off for the home side and they will be able to play with the freedom that Port Vale can not.

Staying with the promotion race and just three points seperate Burton who are currently in third and Rotherham in sixth. Burton are in the pole position to take the final automatic promotion slot and they are at home to Plymouth. This is not the easy game that people might think as Plymouth have lost just one of the last six and won three of the last four. Burton meanwhile have won just one of the last five.

Fourth placed Northampton take on York and the home side will be looking to bounce back after losing their last two games. These defeats have been no disgrace as they went down 1-0 to high-flying Bradford and Cheltenham. No side though has won more home games than Northampton and the evens (BetVictor/william hill) on them to pick up all three points against a York side with just four wins on their travels this season looks value.

Also in the promotion mix are Cheltenham who are playing Gillingham, Rotherham are at home to Fleetwood Town. It is 19/20 (bet365/sportingbet) that Rotherham get all three points here. The Millers have won four of their last six at home (including their last two) and should see off a Fleetwood side who have taken just four points from their last six games though other bets offer more appeal to me.

One final bet I like the look of is Nahki Wells in the anytime scorer market for Bradford. The Bermudan has netted three times in his last two games and his side Bradford are on fire at the moment as they launch a late bid to get themselves in the play-offs. This weekend they take on Chesterfield and at 7/4 (Coral) might appeal to some though a word of caution and have taken 13 points from their last six games. Instead of siding with the Bantams then side with the in-form Wells at the same odds (7/4-Coral).

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Rochdale to beat Port Vale, 19/10 (boylesports)
SILVER: Northampton to beat York, evens (BetVictor/william hill)
BRONZE: Nahki Wells to score anytime v Chesterfield, 7/4 (Coral)
