With just a few weeks remaining in the Football Leauge here is our guide to how the outright markets are shaping up.

In the Championship Cardiff are now six points clear and know that just one point from their remaining four games will be enough to secure them a place in the Premier League. The race is on between Hull and Watford for the second automatic promotion spot with the Tigers in pole position after a victory over Ipswich and the Hornets defeat at Peterborough giving them a six point advantage. Hull are now 1/10 (Coral/BWin) for promotion while Watford are 5/2 (general). Behind them the battle is on to make the play-offs with five points seperating Crystal Palace in fourth and Leicester in eighth. At the other end of the table the relegation market has cleared up a little with bookmakers thinking five teams are battling to avoid being in the two remaining slots. If you presume Bristol City are gone it becomes a battle between Barnsley, Wolves, Huddersfield, Peterborough and Blackburn. It looks a very tough one to call and things can change quickly. One bet I do like the look of though is the 4/9 (BetVictor) are offering on Charlton to finish as top newcomers as only Sheffield Wednesday can catch them. The Addicks are four points clear and on a run of form that has seen them take ten points from their last four and have winnable games ahead.

League One looks like becoming a shoot-out between three sides. Doncaster are the 11/8 (Totesport/betfred/sportingbet) favourites for the title while Bournemouth are 6/4 (general) and Brentford are 5/1 (Stan James/Coral). It could be a thrilling end with Brentford and Doncaster expected to meet on the last day of the season. The Cherries have won each of their last seven and I would expect them to occupy one of the promotion slots with it coming down to Brentford and Doncaster for the other. The race for the last remaining play-off slot is crazy with Swindon in sixth occupying it but everyone down to Crawley in 11th will have aspirations of getting it. So much depends on how Swindon do in the game in hand against Crewe. Failure to pick all three points leaves it wide open for the others. Down in the relegation slots and it has to be worth a little interest in Oldham hitting the drop at inflated prices of 11/2 (bet365). True they sit two points above safety with a game in hand and are in much better form than Scunthorpe. The problem is three of their remaining four games are against teams with dreams of the play-offs.

In League Two Gillingham need just one more to secure the league title. In second place Port Vale are five points ahead of Cheltenham in fourth and should have enough in hand to secure automatic promotion. The battle seems to be for the third promotion slot with Burton on 73 points, Cheltenham on 71 and Rotherham on 70 with a game in hand. It is Rotherham who are the favourites with the bookmakers for promotion at 5/6 (Skybet) while Burton are evens (bet365/ladbrokes) and Cheltenham 15/8 (Skybet/Bet Victor). At the other end of the table six teams are battling to avoid relegation out of the Football League. Aldershot are bottom on 45 points and are 2/5 (general) for the drop. The Shots though do have a game in hand as do the other sides in the bottom three, Torquay and Barnet. AFC Wimbledon look the value bet here at 11/4 (Skybet) as they have taken just one point from their last four games.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Charlton to be finish top newcomer in the Championship, 4/9 (BetVictor)
SILVER: AFC Wimbledon to be relegated from League Two, 11/4 (Skybet)
BRONZE: Oldham to be relegated from League One, 11/2 (bet365)
