Arsenal take on Everton Tuesday night in a game that has implications in the race to secure a Champions League slot. Here is our guide to the best of the bets from this game and the outright markets in the top flight.

The race for a top four finish is very close with Arsenal currently in third on 59 points from 32 games, Chelsea have 58 points from 31 games, Tottenham have 58 from 32 games and Everton have 55 from 32 games. Chelsea are 2/7 (general) to make the Champions League while Arsenal are 1/3 (Coral), Tottenham are 6/4 (bet365/BetVictor/888 Sport) and Everton are 11/1 (general). Two of these teams meet at the Emirates on Tuesday night as Arsenal host Everton.

For 84 minutes on Saturday it looked like the Gunners might badly misfire at home to Norwich. A combination of a late Canaries collapse, some spirited pressure and some bad refereeing decisions got them out of jail and give them a 3-1 victory that was not anywhere near as comfortable as the scoreline might suggest. When the Canaries went ahead (even if it was against the run of play) it looked for a while that Arsenal would be unable to unlock them. Everton will have taken note of this and also the fact that Norwich were able to find holes in the Arsenal defence on the counter attack. 10/11 (888 Sport) on a home victory just does not interest me here especially as Everton have found a little bit of form themselves taking ten points from their last four league games. The Toffees are 71/20 (You Win) for victory while the draw is a best priced 14/5 (bet365/Stan James/BWin). I like the look of the under 2.5 goals in this game which is available at a best priced 5/4 (BetVictor). Until the crazy end to the Norwich game this game looked very much like going under 2.5 goals. In addition Arsenal games against sides in the top six tend to not feature as many goals as expected. Everton games against the big five also tend to be low scoring so look for this trend to continue here at decent odds.

Bookmakers make the battle at the bottom between five sides for the one remaining spots. Wigan are currently third bottom on 31 points from 31 games, Aston Villa have 34 points from 33 games, Stoke the same, Sunderland 34 points from 33 games and Norwich have 35 from 33. It is Stoke at 9/2 (ladbrokes) who look the value selection here as they are just three ahead of Wigan who have two games in hand. The Potters have taken just one point from their last seven games and netted just twice in these games. Just two of their five fixtures left are at home and these are against a Norwich side also battling for survival and a Tottenham side pushing for the Champions League. Newcastle are almost triple the price of Norwich yet are just one point ahead of them. In all the excitement of the sunderland performance what has been overlooked is just how bad the Magpies were. The result was a third loss in four games and the win against Fulham flattered them. People keep saying Newcastle have the players to get themselves out of trouble yet the results do not support this. Three of the last five games for the Magpies are away from home and the two home games are against difficult opponents in Arsenal and Liverpool. william hill are going 25/1 on the Magpies to be relegated and this has to be worth a little interest.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Under 2.5 goals in game between Arsenal and Everton, 5/4 (BetVictor)
SILVER: Stoke to be relegated from the Premier League, 9/2 (ladbrokes)
BRONZE: Newcastle to be relegated from the Premier League, 25/1 (william hill)
