International Champions Cup

The American schedule of the International Champions Cup kicks off in Oregon on Sunday as Italian side Inter square up to French Champions PSG at the Autzen Stadium.

European giants battle it out on US soil in pre-season extravaganza

Serie A club Inter will continue their pre-season preparations by taking on the might of French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday night.

The Italians have not had a great pre-season so far, having drawn 0-0 against Austrian side Wattens and lost 2-1 to CSKA Sofia. However, they did win their first match since arriving in the States last week, edging to a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night.

The team from Milan finished fourth in the Italian top flight last season, a full 24 points behind winners Juventus, fuelling speculation about the future of boss Roberto Mancini. But as things stand, the former Man City boss has retained his role at the San Siro and is set to lead the side out for another league campaign.

In contrast, opponents PSG have parted company with Laurent Blanc, who resigned after leading the club to 11 trophies in just three years in charge, and have replaced him with former Sevilla coach Unai Emery. In addition, former Barcelona player Patrick Kluivert has been drafted in as Director of Football.

Team news

PSG have bidden farewell to their talismanic frontman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who left for Manchester United last month, but still have plenty of talent at their disposal. Grzegorz Krychowiak has followed Emery from Sevilla and could be in line for a start, while fellow new signings Hatem Ben Arfa and Thomas Meunier could also feature.

Inter have been fairly busy in the transfer market with Gianluca Caprari arriving from Pescara, Ever Banega and Caner Erkin arriving on free transfers from Sevilla and Fenerbache respectively, Marcelo Brozovic moving from Dinamo Zagreb and Dodō making the €8m move north from Roma.

Betting odds and tips

With plenty of new signings potentially on display, this game could be nothing more than a glorified training session with a slightly competitive edge. However, PSG will start as favourites and rightly so. They have a stronger squad than their rivals and have already beaten Premier League side West Brom in this summer`s pre-season schedule.
