Brazilian Neymar is the 6/1 (paddy Power) favourite to finish as topscorer in the Olympic Football tournament. The 20 year-old forward has netted nine goals in 19 international games and has already been named ‘the most marketable athlete in the world’. Neymar is probably the player that most people are excited about seeing in the Olympics. Team GB fans got a glimpse of him in a recent friendly where he netted once. With set piece duties and a very easy group it is expected that Neymar will be among the goals. If you think one of his team-mates will steal the spotlight you can get Hulk at 9/1 (BetVictor/You Win), Alexandre Pato is a 10/1 hope (bet365/boylesports), or at a bigger price Leandro Damiao 20/1 (general) might be able to do some damage against some of the smaller teams in the group.

Adrian Lopez is next in the market at 8/1 (ladbrokes/You Win). The Spanish forward is expected to lead the line for Spain in what, like the Brazilians, seems an easy group. The Atletico Madrid forward has netted a number of goals through the levels of international football, including winning the Golden Boot in the 2011 Under 21 European Championships. Cristian Tello could also force his way into the forward line for Spain with the Barcelona forward priced at 16/1. Those looking for a player at a more speculative price can get on Juan Mata at 40/1 (general). The Chelsea midfielder could be handed a free role and see a lot of the ball.

Uruguay are third favourites and have a real chance of winning the whole tournament. The side are lead by strike duo Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani. Both players are priced at 10/1, but at those prices it is Cavani who makes the most sense. Cavani is a proven class act and has grabbed 49 Serie A goals in the last two seasons. It will be a shock if he is not among the goals and must be added to the portfolio.

Those who want to go with a player playing for Team GB will have to decide between Daniel Sturridge 25/1 (bet365/boylesports) and Craig Bellamy also at 25/1 (general). Scott Sinclair is 66/1 (bet365) and if he is handed the penalties, like he does for Swansea, this could be a massive price. The problem is just how far that Team GB can go, with semi-finals looking as far as this side can go. An alternative method might be to get involved in the market that allows people to back top scorers per team. Daniel Sturridge is 7/2 (general) to finish as top scorer for Team GB, while Craig Bellamy is 4/1 (general) and Scott Sinclair at 6/1 (BetVictor/william hill). If you think Ryan Giggs will lead by example you can get 10/1 (william hill) that the Welshman gets the most goals among the squad.

The weakest of all the groups appears to be Group B and it might be worth looking at a couple of players in this group, Giovanni Dos Santos at 40/1 (general) for Mexico could be a good each-way bet. Dos Santos has never really got among the goals for Tottenham, but he has a done well at international level and the group stage presents opportunities for him to get among the goals. The same can be true of Switzerland and Innocent Emeghara who plays for French club Lorient in Ligue 1. He has netted five in eight previous games for Switzerland U21 and looks a value pick at 50/1 (BetVictor/Stan James).
