Whilst Newcastle will not be overly concerned about relegation just yet, failing to pick up points in their next couple of games could see them flirt with the drop zone as the season reaches its climax. Tomorrow the Magpies face Swansea hoping to move nearer to the magical 40 point mark.

The Toon, who will play host to the Swans tomorrow, currently sit in 14th position and are seven points from the bottom three. A victory for John Carver`s men could move the side up one place should West Bromwich Albion fail to beat Liverpool, and see them just two points from that 40 point marker. Losing at home to Garry Monk`s men could see the North East club fall into 15th place. The configuration of the weekend`s matches means that in this scenario they would be likely to see out Saturday just four points from the drop zone.

There are no such concerns for Swans who are home and dry in eighth with their highest ever Premier League points total - 47. Seeing off Newcastle would put the Whites onto 50 points, feasibly just six from Southampton by the end of the day. Failing to record a victory could see the Welsh side superseded by Mark Hughes` Stoke City.

Swansea and Newcastle last met in October in the reverse Premier League fixture at the former`s Liberty Stadium. With Newcastle under ex-boss Alan Pardew prior to his move to Crystal Palace, neither side managed to secure all three points, the game ending tied 2-2.

The Swans` former striker Wilfried Bony, now of Manchester City, put the Whites 1-0 up just 17 minutes into the game. The score stayed as such until a mere couple of minutes before the half time whistle, Papiss Cisse levelling up for the visitors.

Wayne Routledge was on hand to edge Swansea ahead for a second time five minutes after the restart. It took 25 minutes for the Magpies to find an equaliser and it were grabbed, again by Cisse, with just 15 minutes of the 90 remaining.

Betvictor have the best price of 17/1 on the match ending two goals a-piece at the end of the 90 minutes. Cisse will not be on hand to help his side out after currently serving the remaining time on his seven match ban for spitting.

Consequentially, team-mate Ayoze Perez is the favourite to grab a goal for the Magpies at any time, he being up for grabs at 5/2 at Bwin. Gylfi Sigurdsson is the best supported Swansea player to add to his tally at any time and can be picked up at 15/4 at Spreadex.

Despite their lowly position, it is Newcastle who are the favourites to take all three points from the game as a result of their home advantage. Carver`s men can be backed at the best price of 6/4 at both Coral and william hill. Otherwise, most bookmakers have 9/4 on the visitors securing victory whilst 12/5 (betfred, Totesport) says that the two teams will play out their second successive seasonal draw.

Tomorrow`s home side have not picked up a point in any of their last six matches. Indeed they have only scored two goals in this period. Coral have 13/8 on Newcastle scoring over 1.5 goals against Swansea with 8/15 (bet365, betfred, boylesports) the best price on them scoring under 1.5 goals.

Swansea have a mixed away record to say the least, winning three and losing three of their last six on the road. All of these three away wins came by one goal to nil. Both bet365 and Betvictor have 17/2 on the Swans running out 1-0 winners tomorrow.
