Premier League preview and odds: Crystal Palace vs AFC Bournemouth

August 27 , 2016 15:00pm - Selhurst Park

Premier League

Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth will both be looking to register their first points of the season when they go head-to-head at Selhurst Park this weekend.

No points and no goals for Palace

Crystal Palace have won just two of their last 23 Premier League matches and have started this campaign with two straight defeats and zero goals. Boss Alan Pardew will be hoping that record signing Christian Benteke can ease their goal scoring woes after completing the £30m switch from Liverpool last week.

Both of the Eagles` defeats have been by narrow 1-0 score lines suggesting that they may not be too far off the pace. Having a proven goal scorer in their ranks may just give them boost they need going into their second home game of the season. This weekend, they will face one of the other two teams in the league yet to have recorded a point

Along with Palace and Sunderland, AFC Bournemouth are still looking for their first points of the new campaign. After impressing in their debut season in the top flight last year, Eddie Howe and his men are now out to prove that they are more than just one-season wonders. However, they fell at the first hurdle, losing 3-1 to Manchester United at home and followed that up with a 1-0 defeat away to West Ham United.

Having performed better on the road last term, the Cherries may see this game as the perfect chance to get their season started against a team that could be a direct rival in the battle for relegation come May.

Team news

The home side will have to make do without Damien Delaney, Sullay Kaikai, Jonny Williams and Fraizer Campbell.

Meanwhile, Lewis Cook, Baily Cargill and Tyrone Mings are all still out of action for the visitors..

Betting odds and tips

This should be a close game but Palace now have a top class striker up front and could reap the rewards of their investment against their defensively vulnerable opponents this weekend.
