Manchester United vs. Sunderland - Betting preview and odds

September 26, 2015 15:00pm - Old Trafford

Premier League

Two teams at opposite ends of the Premier League table will go head-to-head on Saturday afternoon as Manchester United take on Sunderland in the 3:00pm kick off at Old Trafford.

Resurgent Manchester United

Manchester United will be hoping to make it three league wins in a row when they welcome bottom-of-the-table Sunderland to Manchester at the weekend. The Red Devils improvement in form has coincided with the outbreak of peace between Coach Louis van Gaal and goalkeeper David De Gea and the arrival of the young Frenchman Anthony Martial.

With the 19-year-old former Monaco forward in the team, United appear to be a much more balanced side. Wayne Rooney does not carry the burden of lone goal-scorer well and looks much more comfortable alongside a more lethal partner.

Martial has shown no signs of being weighed down by his substantial price tag and will be looking to bag his fourth league goal of the season this weekend. For a player that many predicted would be “one for the future,” he already looks like an established part of the here and now in Manchester.

Propping up the table

Sunderland are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and have shown little evidence that they have the ability to drag themselves out of the mire.

With six games gone, the Black Cats are still without out a win and have just two points to their name. Last weekend they went down 2-0 to league new boys Bournemouth and many fans have already lost patience with veteran coach Dick Advocaat.

Team news

Rooney is available after his recent injury woes and can be expected to partner Martial up front.

Sunderland are one of the few teams in the league that have very few injury concerns and should be able to field their strongest side for the trip to Manchester.

Betting odds and tips

It is no surprise that United are clear favourites to win this game and there is no case to be made for any other outcome. Value may be hard to find in the win market but you can back a home Win To Nil at 10/11 with Paddypower.

Anthony Martial can be backed to score his fourth league goal of the season at anytime during the game at a price of evens with Betfred, while second top scorer Juan Mata can be backed at 15/8 to score anytime with the same bookie.
