PRESTON v SHEFFIELD UNITED, Monday 17th March 2014, 19;45, SKY SPORTS 1

You have to feel a little sorry for Preston the club are on an 11 game unbeaten run and have lost just four times this season yet such is the form of Wolves, Brentford and Leyton Orient those automatic promotion places seem a long way away.

Preston won the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane earlier in the season and are 23/20 (GENERAL) to complete the double here. The Lancashire side are unbeaten in their last six home games in the division, winning three of these and drawing the other three.

The draw has been something of a common feature of North End games and they have drawn the second highest amount of games in the division this season at 14. The game to end all square at 12/5 (GENERAL) could be the way to play this when you consider the form that the Blades are also in. Nigel Clough has done an excellent job since taking over at Sheff United and has earned them a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup as well as winning seven straight in the league. This looks like a game neither side can or will want to lose.

RECOMMENDATION: Game to end in a draw, 29/10 (bet365/betfair)

COLCHESTER V SHREWSBURY, Tuesday 18th March 2014. 19:45, non live

This is an important game at the bottom of the League One table as the 17th placed Colchester play host to 23rd placed Shrewsbury. The U’s come into the game on the back of poor run of form that has seen them just win one of their last nine games. This victory did come at home though against Coventry and they are 7/5 (BETVICTOR/CORAL) to come out on top here against a Shrewsbury side with just one win in their last twelve. The visitors can be backed at 23/10 (paddy Power.WILLIAM HILL) and the draw 12/5 (GENERAL).

The Shrews picked up an excellent 0-0 draw at Wolves at the weekend and this was a second consecutive goalless draw on their travels and the 5/6 (SKYBET) are going on this game having under 2.5 goals seems to be the way to play it.

RECOMMENDATION: Under 2.5 goals, 5/6 (SKYBET)

CRAWLEY V WOLVES, Tuesday 18th March 2014, 19:45 non live

Wolves will look to expand their place at the top of League One to four points when they take on Crawley on Tuesday night and are evens (BETVICTOR) to do so. The table toppers were held 0-0 at the weekend by Shrewsbury which put an end to a nine game straight winning run. Crawley beat Colchester and have just one defeat from their last nine game and three victories from their last five at home and they are 7/2 (CORAL) while the draw is 27/10 (bet365).

The best bet in this game is to take Wolves for the victory as they were dominant against Shrewsbury on Saturday but missed a number of chances and a side with goalscoring talents of Leon Clarke and Bakary Sako will not draw blanks for too long.

RECOMMENDATION: Wolves to beat Crawley, evens (BETVICTOR)

LEAGUE ONE OUTRIGHTS

With games in hand it is Wolves and Brentford who look in pole position for the two automatic promotion slots and third placed Leyton Orient are now out to 9/5 (888 SPORT/unibet) for promotion. Preston and Rotherham are likely to join them in the play-offs with the race on for the sixth spot. Peterborough are currently in sixth on 58 points from 36 games and are 1/4 (BETVICTOR/paddy Power) a top six finish. MK Dons are six behind having played a game more and are 12/1 (GENERAL) chances while Sheff Utd have 11 points to make up on Posh though have two games in hand and are 5/1 (BETVICTOR).

The value bet is the 5/1 (BETVICTOR) are offering on Sam Baldock to finish as top scorer in the division as he is just one goal behind Britt Assombalonga and has five in his last seven.

RECOMMENDATION: Sam Baldock top scorer League 1, 5/1 (BETVICTOR)
